In the event of a disaster, a whole host of organizations swoop into the area to help. Everyone from the United Way to the Red Cross, World Central Kitchen and even the Humane Society joins with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to deliver water, help people get to shelters, feed folks, help animals and ultimately begin to rebuild their lives.

The work that is done is part of an effort that has existed for decades and gets better and better with each disaster from trusted groups that fall under federal oversight. After an event, most leaders point to such groups to encourage folks to help, but as Hurricane Ian bared down on Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) started his own disaster relief fund, putting his wife in charge of it.

A new survey shows Republicans are more likely than any other political group to reject the results of a losing election, and a veteran pollster expressed alarm at those findings.

The new poll conducted by Yahoo News and YouGov found just 43 percent of Republicans say political candidates who got fewer votes should concede their loss, compared to 74 percent of Democrats and 57 percent of independents, and Republican pollster Frank Luntz told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" those results were chilling.

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) spoke to the press while in Arcadia, Florida on Sunday and claimed that Hurricane Ian wasn't aimed at Ft. Myers when they were doing evacuations and that they assumed it was going to hit Tampa.

"Well, was your industry stationed when the storm hit? Was it in Lee County? No, you were in Tampa. So, they were following the weather track and they had to make decisions based on that. But, you know, 72 hours they weren't even in the cone. At 48 hours they were on the periphery. So, you've got to make decisions the best you can," said DeSantis.

On Sunday, a Lee County man was working on clearing debris from his home when CNN's Jim Acosta approached him to ask how they fared through Hurricane Ian.

The man showed Acosta the damage to the home, the most significant parts were at the back of the home because the house is on a canal.

Panelists on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" denounced Ginni Thomas for proudly affirming her belief in Donald Trump's election lies during testimony before the Jan. 6 committee.

The wife of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas testified before the House select committee, whose chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) revealed that she still believes the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, and she emerged smiling from the interview with lawmakers.

Georgia Senate candidate Herschel Walker is still facing questions about domestic violence as the election nears.

One of the first stories to come out about Walker's past was that he abused his former wife and at one point held a gun to her head threatening to shoot. Walker also admitted that he would play Russian roulette. In fact, he told ESPN's Highly Questionable that he'd played it "more than once." He loved the competition of it, he said.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R-TX) ran for his life as if he was being chased by a mob with pitchforks and torches. In fact, it was nothing more than a lowly process server trying to hand the chief Texas lawman a subpoena.

Speaking on MSNBC to Stephanie Ruhle explained the lawsuit was brought by health groups looking to help women access legal abortions in states outside of Texas.
