Donald Trump has been slapped with new charges in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, which a veteran correspondent compared to a Mafia investigation.

The former president was indicted Thursday on additional charges of obstruction and willful retention of national defense information in a superseding indictment, and another one of his employees was also charged in the case, and NBC News correspondent Ken Delanian explained the developments to MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

A freshman Republican U.S. Congressman who had been "heard partying loudly" in his congressional office that reportedly was filled with alcohol in full view, is doubling down and defending his actions against a group of 16 and 17 year-old U.S. Senate pages he had cursed out as they tried to take photos of the iconic U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Wednesday. It's not the first time Derrick Van Orden has been verbally abusive to teenagers in public.

"Wake the f*ck up you little sh*ts," Congressman Van Orden, Republican of Wisconsin who was endorsed by Donald Trump told the teenaged Senate pages, according to a transcript one of them wrote down, as The Hill reports. Punchbowl News was first to report the incident.

McConnell, Biden lapses highlight advanced age of political leaders

(Corrects paragraph 3 to show Marin resigned last month) By Steve Holland and Heather Timmons WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell's unexplained freezeup while speaking in Congress this week is the latest reminder that America's most powerful political leaders are much older than many in other democracies. Joe Biden, 80, is the oldest U.S. president to ever serve in the White House, and nearly two decades older than the median age of the world's national leaders, 62, Pew Research found. While Biden is younger than 89-year-old President Paul Biya of Cameroon, the world...

Fears about Trump 'regaining the presidency' may have killed Hunter Biden plea deal: Ex-DOJ prosecutor

President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, was expected to plead guilty to two charges of failing to pay taxes during a hearing in a federal courtroom in Delaware on Wednesday, July 26. Under a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, the younger Biden would plead guilty to the tax charges in exchange for a gun-related case to be dropped.

But the deal fell apart — at least for the time being — when U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, a Donald Trump appointee, complained that she was being asked to be a "rubber stamp" for the plea deal. Noreika asked the president's son, "Without me saying I'll agree to the plea agreement, how do you plead?" And Hunter Biden responded with a "not guilty" plea to all charges, including the tax charges he was expected to plead guilty to.

President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden has been an ongoing obsession of former President Donald Trump and conspiracy theorists in the right-wing media. Trump has railed against what he calls the "Biden crime family" relentlessly, and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California) has said that an "impeachment inquiry" is a possibility.

But not all Republicans believe that obsessing over Hunter Biden and looking for ways to impeach the president are advantageous for their party.

Mitch McConnell has tripped and fallen at least three times this year – only one was reported

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell abruptly "freezing" mid-sentence for almost 20 seconds during his Wednesday news conference made headlines, as did his serious trip and fall incident in March, when he was hospitalized with injuries including a concussion.

But McConnell's disturbing, apparent health-related incident on Wednesday wasn't the first time the 81-year old Kentucky Republican has had a concerning health-related event while talking to reporters, nor was his serious trip and fall the first time that had happened either.

Comer hammered for letting MTG run wild in committee hearings

In a scathing letter to House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) on Thursday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) slammed the lack of leadership after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) showed footage of Hunter Biden in the middle of a sex act during an open committee hearing.

"If Rep. Greene’s completely gratuitous and irrelevant display of pornographic images at our televised hearing does not violate the Congressional rules of decorum, then we have no rules of Congressional decorum," wrote Raskin. "This type of display is a violation of House rules, and, as you yourself have recognized, also 'counter to a credible investigation.'"
