Jury awards huge settlement for a family of a man a cop killed

Police officers killing citizens is becoming a costly business for local communities and their insurers, the Washington Post reported earlier this year. Such was the case with an Ohio jury awarded the family of an unarmed black man shot and killed while he was sleeping, reported The Guardian.

The jury ordered $4.4 million in compensatory damages for Luke Stewart, who was asleep in his car in Euclid, Ohio in March of 2017. Officer Matthew Rhodes "climbed" into the car after someone reported the "suspicious car," reported ABC News Cleveland.

Klan costume at Alabama Halloween party leads to stabbing: police

An Alabama costume party ended in a stabbing after a man came dressed in a Ku Klux Klan costume, reported CenLA.

Slocomb High School senior Michael Harrison Barrett was arrested and charged after allegedly stabbing another partygoer. Witnesses say that the victim walked up to Barrett at the party with hundreds of other youths in costume.

Judge says he won't dismiss charges against Trump fundraiser Tom Barrack

US District Judge Brian Cogan hinted in court on Monday that he was “thinning some things out” when it came to the trial of Donald Trump fundraiser Tom Barrack. Barrack is charged with lobbying as an unregistered foreign agent for the United Arab Emirates.

Cogan indicated he was considering dismissing some of the counts against Barrack and co-defendant Matthew Grimes but that didn't happen, said CNN.com. The judge did agree to restrict prosecutors from telling jurors they could find Grimes guilty of acting as an unregistered foreign agent if he only aided and abetted someone else who was acting as an unregistered foreign agent.

Report reveals the source of the Proud Boys '1776 Returns' memo plotting the attacks on Jan. 6

Former Proud Boys chief Enrique Tarrio had a guide to infiltrating the U.S. Capitol using "covert sleeper" staff and plotted ways to tie up traffic so additional police and defense couldn't get to the Capitol to protect it.

The New York Times reported the name of the person that Tarrio got the document from, a Miami promoter named Eryka Gemma. She's a well-known crypto activist who "may have played a role in the Capitol attack," the Times said.
