Justice Department orders feds to stop police brutality incidents they witness

This week marks the second year since George Floyd was murdered by a police officer kneeling on his neck as the public gathered, filmed and begged the officer to stop.

This week, the Justice Department is issuing a directive for federal agents to act when they witness things like this in public, The Washington Post reported Monday evening.

Maddow chides Republicans for avoiding Jared Kushner's self-dealing allegations while attacking Hunter Biden

The final segment of MSNBC host Rachel Maddow on Monday evening was about the recent report in the New York Times that Jared Kushner and former Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin spent an unusual amount of time in the Persian Gulf over the course of just four years in Trump's office.

Maddow showed photos of the past three secretaries of the U.S. Treasury Department and noted that among the three, which held the positions over Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Collectively, those men went to the Persian Gulf states a total of eight times over ten years. Mnuchin, by contrast, over four years went to the Gulf states at least 18 times, and that doesn't count informal meetings with Gulf state leaders while they were in the U.S.

'You're the liar!' Crowd gets involved as Trump candidate clashes with Republican congresswoman

The only debate between Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Katie Arrington, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, took place on Monday night, noted the Washington Examiner. Arrington previously lost the race when running against Rep. Joe Cunningham (D-SC).

Arrington attacked Mace saying that she turned her back on Donald Trump after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol when his supporters tried to stop the 2020 election certification. Mace then voted to impeach Trump for his involvement in the attempt to overthrow the government.

In the just-released 129-page court filing from the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, prosecutors go through the claims made by Trump Org. CFO Allen Weisselberg as a reason to escape any accountability for his involvement in tax fraud.

Capitol rioter whose parents raised money for him online pleads guilty

A western New York man for whom more than $19,000 was raised online has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor parading charges in connection with the participation in the January 6 Capitol riot.

Daniel Warmus, from Alden, NY, was the subject of a GiveSendGo campaign apparently created by his parents after the FBI arrested him in a raid at his home, according to the web page. He entered a guilty plea today, a year after that arrest.

Stacey Abrams responds to racist Perdue comments by taking the high road -- and focusing on issues

Gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D-GA) made an argument over the weekend that she wants to make Georgia great again. Republicans immediately pounced on her speech, saying that Abrams claimed Georgia was a terrible place to live, but former Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) took it to a whole different level.

While trashing Abrams, Perdue went so far as to say she should go back to where she's from and called her a disgrace to her own race. Abrams responded to the comments while speaking to Joy Ann Reid, who is in Atlanta for the primary race on Tuesday.

Manhattan DA tells judge to proceed with the case against the Trump Org and CFO Allen Weisselberg

In a 129-page court filing on Monday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg told the judge handling the case involving Donald Trump's family business that he should move forward. He's also ready to file felony charges against former Trump Organization chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg.

“This case, at its core, is ordinary,” wrote Assistant District Attorney Solomon Shinerock quoted the New York Daily News. “It arises from the fact that Allen Weisselberg violated the basic imperative that all New Yorkers faithfully report and pay tax on their income.”

Ahead of the final day of President Donald Trump's in the White House, both Jared Kushner and Steve Mnuchin used their positions to score meetings with international leaders. After leaving the Trump administration they scored major investments from those same international leaders for their respective hedge funds.

Now the New York Times is noting that both Kushner and Mnuchin have started the Abraham Fund, named after Kushner's Abraham Accord, a kind of plan that aimed to establish peace in the Middle East, but ultimately just made a few agreements. The Abraham Fund would have the U.S. government pay for $3 billion in projects around the Middle East.
