Heartwarming videos were shared on social media on Friday night showing the spontaneous gathering at the Supreme Court following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The large crowd, with many people wearing masks, sang the hymn "Amazing Grace."

President Donald Trump spoke about his plans for the Supreme Court during a Friday night campaign rally in Bemidji, Minnesota.
Trump took the stage before news was announced that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had died and appeared to not know of the Supreme Court vacancy.
Trump explained to his audience why he had put Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on his shortlist for a Supreme Court nomination.
“I said, you know, I have to have someone that we’re going sure we get approved and the only one I could think of is Ted, because he’s going to get 50 Republican votes and he’s going to get 50 Democrat votes — they’ll do anything to get him out of the Senate," Trump said.
"Ted's the only man I know that can get 100 votes from the Senate," he added.
Appearing with CNN host Anderson Cooper, former White House adviser David Gergen rained hell on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) after he announced he would rush through a vote on a replacement for the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg just hours after it was announced she had passed away.
Gergen, who served in the White House under both Republican and Democratic presidents seemed beside himself with anger when he talked about McConnell who notoriously blocked Merrick Garland from the court after being nominated by former President Barack Obama.
"Mitch McConnell has just thrown down the gauntlet, we're going to have a titanic fight over this," Gergen exclaimed. "Yes, as Jeffrey [Toobin] has said, it will mobilize a lot of people on the right, the hunger still to overturn Roe vs Wade to get social issues on the 6-3 court, they will think Donald Trump has delivered on his promises."
"This will unleash a fury among Democrats, for all the obvious reasons," he continued. "It's so brazenly contemptuous of fair play -- it's hypocritical. You're going to see that the Republicans will pay a price at the polls this November. Another one of the things, I think it makes it more likely that Joe Biden will win the election, it makes it more likely that the Democrats will take over the Senate."

Fox News contributor Brit Hume reacted to the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg by cautioning Republican leaders against replacing the liberal icon before the November election.
Hume made the remarks on Fox News after noting that both President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have previously vowed to hypothetically have a nominee approved before the election.
"Lindsey Graham back in 2018... said that even if were were just into the primary season, he would not want to see a nominee advance in the election year," Hume explained. "I think the circumstances may have changed since [McConnell] outlined that."
"Our American institutions and political system are undergoing a stress test as difficult and intense as I have every seen," he continued. "And I think the leaders have to consider what the effect would be a brutal and divisive confirmation battle into the into the middle of this."
According to Hume, "the threshold question is whether to even make a nomination."
"Trump's instinct undoubtedly will be to go forward," he observed. "But whether Mitch McConnell will feel that way as the majority leader of the Senate is unclear."
"I really think that the threshold question is whether to put the country through this," Hume said.

White House efforts to help Donald Trump politically before the 2020 presidential election prevented America's seniors from receiving $150 billion in prescription drug price relief.
"After months of heated accusations and painstaking negotiations, the White House and the pharmaceutical industry neared agreement late last month on a plan to make good on President Trump’s longstanding promise to lower drug prices. The drug companies would spend $150 billion to address out-of-pocket consumer costs and would even pick up the bulk of the co-payments that older Americans shoulder in Medicare’s prescription drug program," The New York Times reported Saturday.
"Then the agreement collapsed. The breaking point, according to four people familiar with the discussions: Mark Meadows, Mr. Trump’s chief of staff, insisted the drug makers pay for $100 cash cards that would be mailed to seniors before November — 'Trump Cards,' some in the industry called them," the newspaper reported. "Some of the drugmakers bridled at being party to what they feared would be seen as an 11th-hour political boost for Mr. Trump, the people familiar with the matter said."
Priscilla VanderVeer, the vice-president of public affairs at PhRMA, cited the election timing as a reason the deal collapsed.
“We could not agree to the administration’s plan to issue one-time savings cards right before a presidential election,” VanderVeer said. “One-time savings cards will neither provide lasting help, nor advance the fundamental reforms necessary to help seniors better afford their medicines.”
A Florida man was arrested this week after he was caught on video assaulting a 12-year-old girl with a flag pole, the Florida Times-Union reports.
Norbert Eugene Logsdon Jr. was charged Wednesday with abuse of a child without great bodily harm. He was subsequently released in bail.
The incident was captured on video by the child's mother and was posted to Facebook. She and her daughter were driving past a sidewalk pro-Trump demonstration when the mother yelled something antagonistic to the Trump supporters. That's when Logsdon shoved the flagpole through the open right-front passenger window.
Another video posted to Facebook shows Logsdon hoisting a flag reading, "Trump 2020 No More Bullsh*t" while confronting another woman.
Discussing comments made by Bill Barr this past week on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Friday morning, Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson called the attorney general "loony" after calling the AG the "second most dangerous man in America."
With host Joe Scarborough pointing out that Donald Trump attacked his own FBI director again this week, Robinson was asked to explain what is going on with the Justice Department.
"Historically, obviously, as you know, and as everyone knows, the FBI director is given an amount of autonomy and authority to do what he needs to do in the service of American justice and is thought to be immune from the sort of political interference," he began. "At least that's the theory, that was what we tried to do from the end of J. Edgar Hoover's tenure to now and it started at the beginning of Donald Trump's term when he got rid of Jim Comey because he wouldn't do his political bidding. So this is nothing new for Donald Trump."
"What is new, I think, is that we can say Bill Barr is now the second most dangerous man in America," he continued. "The most dangerous man to our Constitution, our constitutional norms, to what we think of as the American way of life. He believes, I think he sincerely believes, I think he is this loony, but he believes in an absolutely imperial presidency and he believes that yes, the president and the attorney general, his attorney general, should be able decide that the FBI investigates these people over here but not those people over there because we say so and that's astonishing."
"As [co-panelist] Claire McCaskill says, if you wrote it in a movie script, you wouldn't believe it because it's so implausible," he added. "But it's true. It's happening before our eyes."

Addressing Donald Trump's early attacks on former Vice President Joe Biden as being "senile," MSNBC host Joe Scarborough and "Morning Joe" regular John Heilemann stated the president's campaign has backed off that talking point because it 'backfired" on the president -- particularly with the senior voters he desperately needs.
As host Scarborough noted, "You know, so much of what Donald Trump has done has backfired we've talked about June 1st, Kenosha," he began. "But also when you're talking about seniors and coronavirus, that's one part of it. But another part, isn't there polling out that shows constant attacks on Joe Biden is senile when obviously Joe Biden is not senile is actually backfiring on Donald Trump as well."
"Yeah, I don't know about polling, Joe, but it's a suspicion that you and I have had for some months that we talked about," Heilemann replied. "So in Florida this week I was asking some smart Republicans down there, beyond COVID, the obvious the way Trump has kind of been casual and mismanaged the pandemic and how that's hammered the senior community what else is it about? And a lot of them pointed to this notion that if Trump had run a subtle campaign -- which is kind of impossible for Trump -- but if he ran an attempt to make Biden unacceptable, playing going after his age and saying he lost a step, that he wasn't up to the job, he lost his fastball whatever, that was the kind of attack that would have resonated with a lot of seniors."
"A lot of seniors are aware in their 70s they've lost a few miles per hour on their fastball, they can't do what they did in their sixties," he continued. "But when they hear Trump attack Biden as if he's addled, senile and lost it, that's the kind of thing that -- and we all know seniors in our own lives -- that's like, we're 'wait a minute, you're saying because the guy in his 70s that he's lost it, he's addled, he's senile,' they take that personally."
"Among Republican strategists in Florida, if you ask them why is Trump hurting with seniors they come with two answers: one is COVID and the other is he overplayed his hand when Trump attacked Joe Biden as being mentally infirm at this point in his life," he added. "They think that's backfired."
"Especially when you look at the reels of tape that "The Daily Show" has on Donald Trump unable to complete sentences. It's a ridiculous argument," host Scarborough suggested.

President Donald Trump gave a fear-filled and factually inaccurate campaign rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin on Thursday.
The rally, held in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, featured a large crowd closely packed together.

At the rally, Trump ridiculed former Vice President Joe Biden for social distancing at campaign appearances with America's death toll over 200,000. Also on Thursday, Biden held a town hall meeting on CNN where he spoke in-depth about the challenges of a coronavirus vaccine.
The Lincoln Project, the group of former top GOP strategists working to defeat Trump, said that "only one candidate will protect your family from coronavirus" in a new video.
The video features video of Biden's town hall, and contrasted it with Trump's comments on injecting disinfectants into humans to try and kill the virus.
"We end COVID when we end Trump’s presidency," the ad concludes.
The latest former top Trump administration official to publicly endorse Joe Biden was praised online on Thursday.
"President Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic showed a 'flat out disregard for human life' because his 'main concern was the economy and his reelection,' according to a senior adviser on the White House coronavirus task force who left the White House in August," The Washington Post reported Thursday. "Olivia Troye, who worked as homeland security, counterterrorism and coronavirus adviser to Vice President Pence for two years, said that the administration’s response cost lives and that she will vote for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden this fall because of her experience in the Trump White House."
"Troye is the first Trump administration official who worked extensively on the coronavirus response to forcefully speak out against Trump and his handling of the pandemic. But she joins a growing number of former officials, including former national security adviser John Bolton and former defense secretary Jim Mattis, who have detailed their worries about what happened during their time in the administration while declaring that Trump is unfit to be president," the newspaper reported.

Another lifelong Republican and former top Trump administration official has endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden.
"Olivia Troye, the former top homeland security aide to Vice President Mike Pence, endorsed former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. on Thursday and accused President Trump of weak leadership and of dramatically mismanaging the response to the coronavirus crisis," The New York Times reported Thursday. "In an ad released online, Ms. Troye recounts hearing the president — who has spoken about his phobia of germs — say in a meeting that he was glad that the virus had arrived in the United States, because it meant he would no longer have to shake hands with people he said he considered 'disgusting.'"
"Josh Venable, who served as the chief of staff for Betsy DeVos, the secretary of education, will also join the group, known as REPAIR (Republican Political Alliance for Integrity and Reform), according to a statement. John Mitnick, the former top lawyer at Mr. Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, is an adviser to the group," the newspaper reported. "Ms. Troye, a lifelong Republican who also worked in the George W. Bush administration, said in the statement that she will serve as a co-founder of the group, with the goal of restoring integrity to the Republican Party."
During an interview with former FBI investigator Peter Strzok, MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell noted that special counsel Robert Mueller didn't find any "collusion" between President Donald Trump and Russia in the 2016 election. That isn't entirely true, Strzok corrected her.
It's a common mistake the media is making as the election nears and Trump is desperately trying to rewrite the story on Russia hacking the election then and now, he explained.
"Andrea the Mueller investigation said they were unable to bring -- to a legal standard -- to bring criminal charges that something had occurred but they point throughout the report to a variety of deep counterintelligence concerns when you add that to the recent bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report, almost a thousand pages from a Republican Senate committee laying out all these concerns, the data is too great to ignore," said Strzok. "So yes, I believe that the president is compromised by the Russians and I think that takes a lot of forms. I think it comes through financial entanglements that he is fighting to become known, that the Russians known about and can hold over him. I also think it also comes from the way they can play to his ego, his strange fascination with dictators around the world."
Strzok went on to say that one of his greatest concerns with Attorney General Bill Barr's new "investigate the investigators" case led by U.S. Attorney John Durham, is that Durham's long-time aide, Nora Dannehy, resigned after she was privately telling colleagues the investigation was being rushed ahead of the 2020 election.
"Colleagues said Dannehy is not a supporter of President Trump and has been concerned in recent weeks by what she believed was pressure from Barr, who appointed Durham, to produce results before the election," the Hartford Courant reported "They said she has been considering resigning for weeks, conflicted by loyalty to Durham and concern about politics."
"That gives me a lot of concern that something is coming that is not based on fact or objective investigation but rather something designed to be political in nature and if it's bad enough that this career attorney who has just nothing but a laudable service record feels compelled to resign, that gives me a lot of concern," he closed.
