Michigan lawyer draws a direct line between Sidney Powell's unethical lawyering and the Capitol riots

Michigan lawyer David Fink was the lawyer who filed the complaint against pro-Donald Trump lawyers Sidney Powell, Lin Wood and Rudy Giuliani, and on Wednesday his efforts were successful. A federal judge ordered sanctions for the self-described "Kraken" lawyers who worked to overturn the 2020 election through fruitless lawsuits that were dismissed.

Speaking to MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, Fink explained that sanctions like this are extraordinarily rare. He noted that the first thing that this ruling means is that Powell and her colleagues must pay the attorneys fees for the city and state because they were forced to pay to defend against the claims.

Women for Trump permit request admitted 'some people' would march to Capitol after Stop the Steal rally

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol has requested documents from several federal agencies including the former White House. Among the documents that will likely be discussed the original permit for the Jan. 6 event at the Ellipse requested by Women for America First organizers including Kylie Kremer.

As reporter Nancy Levine pointed out, the request outlined that they anticipated that people would "march" to the Capitol but that they weren't asking for a permit for it.

Mike Lindell's legal team tries to bypass losing Dominion trial and go immediately to appeal

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell faces a substantial lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems, accusing him of defaming their company and costing the company over $1 billion.

The case isn't going very well for Lindell, however, Law.com reported Tuesday. Last week, the judge refused a motion to dismiss the trial, so Lindell's legal team is trying something different. They're attempting to bypass the trial altogether and go straight to the appeal.

Trump-loving conspiracists found their 'perfect villain' in Dominion election programmer -- and ruined his life

Conspiracy theorists latched onto an employee of Dominion Voting Systems, and their threats upended his personal life and cost him the job he loved.

Eric Coomer helped make the company one of the largest providers of election software in the country, but a 2016 Facebook post was leaked -- by an acquaintance, he suspects -- to a right-wing podcaster who cited that post, and some exaggerated or false claims about him, were "100 percent" proof "the election was rigged," reported the New York Times Magazine.

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti on Monday commented on the new agreement by former Rudy Giuliani henchman Igor Fruman to plead guilty to charges of campaign finance violations and other charges.

Former Trump staffer brags of leading 'huge' disinformation campaign supporting the MAGA rioters: report

On Monday, BuzzFeed News published an exposé on Matt Braynard — a one-time staffer on former President Donald Trump's campaign who has emerged as one of the fiercest pushers of right-wing propaganda about the January 6 Capitol attack.

"Braynard, who worked for Trump for five months on the 2016 campaign before he was let go, has been Forrest Gumping his way through the postelection Trump universe," reported Sarah Mimms. "In December, he testified alongside Rudy Giuliani alleging mass voter fraud in Arizona. A week later, he told legislators in Georgia that he'd found 21,000 illegal ballots in the state (before his data was methodically torn apart by a Democratic legislator who tracked down several of the voters herself). He was a paid expert witness in three cases challenging the election results, none of which went anywhere."

'Look who's talking': Giuliani buried in laughter after accusing Biden of 'worsening cognitive impairment'

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani stepped in it on Monday morning when he weighed in on the chaos in Afghanistan and then accused President Joe Biden of "worsening cognitive impairment" that makes him incapable of performing his presidential duties.

Giuliani -- who has been dogged by reports that he was drunk most of the time while advising Donald Trump on overturning the election results and once, mistakenly, held an election fraud press conference in the parking lot of a landscaping company -- tweeted out: "The catastrophe in Afghanistan makes Biden's inability to make correct decisions about foreign policy no longer a joke. Combined with almost daily demonstrations of worsening cognitive impairment, this national security problem can no longer be covered-up."
