Right-wing conspiracist with sketchy past hired as an 'expert' by Arizona audit -- and other states may do the same

Republicans in Arizona's state senate have hired a twice-failed congressional candidate with a questionable past to assist in its still-ongoing "audit" of Donald Trump's election loss.

Shiva Ayyadurai baselessly claimed he lost his second U.S. Senate primary bid last year in Massachusetts due to the mass destruction of ballots, which predated Trump's own election lies by a few months, and now he's become a sought-after "expert" for GOP-led legislatures conducting bogus election audits, reported The Daily Beast.

Rudy Giuliani explains why it's OK to impeach Biden but not Trump: 'We can't be denied the use of it'

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani explained on Monday why he believes President Joe Biden should face impeachment even though he opposed "weaponizing" the constitutional remedy against former President Donald Trump.

During an interview on Real America's Voice, host Steve Bannon asked Giuliani why it was acceptable to target Biden with impeachment for "treason" over the U.S. military's withdrawal in Afghanistan.

Republicans ridiculed for addressing media threats to Yahoo CEO who left in 2017

This week, House GOP leaders threatened that they would obstruct any effort to obtain the phone records of Republican officials who may have been involved in the Jan. 6 attack. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) drew criticism and accusations that his efforts to block the subpoenas were an obstruction of justice, while others asked what he had to hide.

But there was one piece of the formal threats that are drawing mockery even days after. McCarthy and 11 other GOP leaders joined in sending letters to media heads so they would have a written threat. One of those letters was addressed to the President and CEO of Yahoo. At least, she was the CEO four years ago.

Mike Lindell paid millions to 'cyber experts' -- and allegedly bought a luxury home for accused fraudster

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's alleged net worth of $300 million may be dwindling rapidly, thanks in large part to the team of blundering operatives, advisers and self-appointed cyber experts who have convinced Lindell to pay them big bucks for their thoroughly unsuccessful work to help him reverse the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

WATCH: Rudy Giuliani tricked by pranksters into trashing his own client

On Thursday, the Huffington Post reported that former New York City mayor and longtime Trump associate Rudy Giuliani got pranked through his engagements on the personalized celebrity greetings site Cameo.

"The former Donald Trump attorney apparently got tricked into praising a group that has investigated an energy firm founded by one of his clients," reported Ron Dicker. "New York magazine's Intelligencer on Wednesday posted a Cameo video ... of Giuliani happily rattling off the first names of journalists and activists, including Reuters' Angus Berwick and human rights advocate Thor Halvorssen, who have reported negatively on Derwick Associates. Derwick is run by Alejandro Betancourt, whom Giuliani reportedly represented in an effort to persuade the Justice Department to drop its bribery and money-laundering investigation into the businessman."

Sidney Powell spent $1.2 million to set up a new DC law office as disbarment looms: report

According to a report from Politico, embattled attorney Sidney Powell, who has been at the forefront of legal efforts to get the results of the 2020 presidential election thrown out based upon accusations of fraud, is setting up a new law office in Washington D.C.

Of note, the report from Politico's Josh Gerstein is the fact that the attorney -- who is facing sanctions, possible disbarment and a multi-billion dollar lawsuit filed against her by Dominion Voting Systems -- paid $1.2 million through a limited liability corporation (LLC) to purchase a former antique shop to house her offices.

If Merrick Garland doesn't prosecute Trump, the rule of law is 'out the window': Laurence Tribe

If American democracy were a hospital patient, the diagnosis would be "critical". The Jim Crow Republican Party and larger neofascist movement are escalating their war on democracy by passing laws across the country designed to stop Black and brown people from voting. A new report from the Brennan Center details this:

After the 2010 elections, for the first time since the peak of the Jim Crow era, states across the country began to enact laws making it more difficult to vote. This wave of voter suppression was intertwined with race and the nation's changing racial demographics and was, at least in part, a backlash against rising turnout among communities of color contributing to the election of the nation's first Black president. Efforts to suppress the votes of communities of color accelerated in 2013, when the Supreme Court gutted a key part of the Voting Rights Act in Shelby County v. Holder. In the eight years since, and especially in 2020, these trends continued.

Fascist violence continues unabated. In Portland, Oregon, last weekend right-wing street thugs attacked people they believed to be anti-fascists. The violence included a gun battle in downtown Portland. Police did not intervene, which is not entirely surprising given that America's police have long supported fascists and other right-wing extremists.

Trump's embattled 'cable-news' lawyers are getting what they deserve: legal experts

In a biting column for The Atlantic, attorneys Bradley Moss and Janet Molinaro wrote that the attorneys who stepped in to litigate Donald Trump's election fraud claims are getting what they deserve as they face sanctions, massive fines and likely disbarment depriving them of their livelihoods.

Discussing "Sidney Powell and her merry band of 'Kraken' lawyers" and later adding former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani to the mix -- the two attorneys bluntly stated, "Today, they face punishing financial and professional consequences, including the potential loss of their license to practice law. This is exactly what should happen."
