"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver started off his show mocking Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for being forced to steal migrants who came into Texas to deploy his plot to deport immigrants.

Both the Fox network and Republicans have desperately tried to turn immigration into a huge issue for the 2022 midterm election at a time when most Americans actually care about other things like democracy or women's liberty and rights.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg spoke to the Texas Tribune Festival about the crisis of asylum seekers coming in from Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.

Speaking to the group in Austin, Texas over the weekend, he explained that the reason that Republicans want to talk so much about problems at the border is that they gain more by there not being a solution than if there was one.

Previous reports of Riggleman revealed that there was a call from the White House to an insurrectionist. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) told CNN on Sunday that the call only lasted 10 seconds and it didn't connect to the insurrectionist, but that the person the White House was calling was in the Capitol at the time.

Former Justice Department official and Los Angeles Times legal analyst Harry Litman was on hand to watch Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as she spoke to the Texas Tribune this weekend.

In a clip of Cheney speaking to a crowd, she explained that there would likely be more out of the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress. She is one of two Republican members on the committee.

House Select Committee member Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), is among those who have been investigating the attack on Congress on Jan. 6 and the lead up to the attack. She spoke to CNN on Sunday, where she was asked about former Republican Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-VA) who is publishing a book about some of the things he observed during his time working on the Committee.

Riggleman, who is no longer in Congress, told "60 Minutes" that there was a phone call directly to the White House landline on Jan. 6 from one of the insurrectionists at the Capitol. He called it an "ah-ha moment," for their team because it seemed odd that an attacker would be calling the White House.

Former "Real World" cast member, Rachel Campos-Duffy lamented that a new monument to enslaved people kidnapped from Africa and the Caribbean islands and brought to the United States should highlight the awesomeness of White people.

The Gen. X conservative is married to conservative former tea party Congressman Sean Duffy, who has his own history of racist comments, particularly about Native Americans, who he and his spouse called alcoholics.

Illinois Democrat, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi lamented that the Justice Department is moving too slowly when it comes to Jan. 6-related cases.

A few days ago, a former prosecutor for special counsel Robert Mueller's team, Andrew Weissmann, explained that the DOJ started at a different vantage point than the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress. They were working not on prosecuting attackers but on getting to the bottom of what happened to cause Jan. 6 and those involved in refusing to protect the Capitol.

There is a piece of the civil lawsuit against the Trump Organization by New York Attorney General Letitia James that is falling by the wayside in the discussion about Donald Trump's legal problems.

Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace on Friday, former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen noted that there were subpoenas sent to Trump about classified documents he said that he didn't have.

Andrew Weissmann, a former FBI lawyer and prosecutor on special counsel Robert Mueller's team, said that he believes there has been a change of "will" at the Justice Department has changed in the Jan. 6 investigations.

Thus far, the DOJ has been focusing on the 900-plus people who were in the Capitol, attacked police officers and broke through doors and windows. Weissmann explained that the House Select Committee investigating the attack started their probe at the top, where DOJ started at the bottom.

Biographer of Donald Trump, David Cay Johnston, explained Thursday that "The Donald" isn't the only one in a tough position as he heads into court over the fraud alleged by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, Johnston, along with former assistant Attorney General Harry Litman explained that the so-called children of Donald Trumps aren't minors, they're the executive vice presidents of his company. They had specific projects under the Trump Org. and were said to have taken over the business while Trump was in the White House.

Former President Donald Trump appeared Wednesday on Fox News to talk about his bad day in legal battles with the New York attorney general announcing a civil suit against his business and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals overturning the protections put in place by his hand-picked judge.

Speaking about the day, former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, Miles Taylor and MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace joked about Trump's claim he could declassify someone with the power of his own thoughts. Wallace said that it was like the movie "Minority Report" where the "thought police" can stop people from doing anything illegal before they do it.

Alex Jones took the stand in his next trial over the allegations that his actions on his show harmed the Sandy Hook families to such a degree that there are damages. Jones attacked the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre by falsely claiming that they were actors and that the mass shooting was a false-flag operation. That led to a number of attacks on the families over the course of years.

At one point the lawyer for the Sandy Hook families, Chris Mattei, tried to question Jones about whether it was wrong to lie about them publicly. The questioning began with Jones' allegations against the Young Turks, which reported that Jones sent sexually explicit images of children to the Sandy Hook families. Jones ultimately agreed that his lawyers did do that.

The co-hosts of "The View" started off the Thursday show talking about Donald Trump's bad day of legal problems.

Trump is not only facing business problems with a civil lawsuit from the attorney general of New York, but the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals also delivered a repudiation of Trump's legal arguments. The Department of Justice is now free to continue using classified records seized from Mar-a-Lago in its investigations.
