A draft ruling leaked that appears to show the U.S. Supreme Court will strike down Roe v. Wade, and a legal expert examined why someone would have made the exceedingly rare move to reveal the court's inner workings on a matter of such importance.

Barbara McQuade, a former U.S. attorney and MSNBC legal analyst, told "Morning Joe" that there were several possibilities that might have motivated the leaker, and she cautioned against assuming it could have come from someone who disagreed with the majority opinion drafted by Justice Samuel Alito.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough condemned the U.S. Supreme Court as illegitimate after a leaked draft shows a majority is prepared to strike down the longstanding Roe v. Wade ruling.

The landmark abortion rights case has long been a subject of conservative ire, but each of the five justices who would be voting with the majority had assured the Senate Judiciary Committee they considered Roe to be settled law before their confirmation, and the "Morning Joe" host said the pending ruling would undermine the court's authority.

The recent announcement that the Supreme Court was poised to overturn abortion rights in the US came after most late-night comedy shows taped their episodes. Such was the case with Seth Meyers, who dedicated his "Closer Look" segment to the latest in what he declared "the party of weirdos."

"As we have established, one of the things Trump did for the modern GOP is he weird-a-fied it," explained Meyers. "He unleashed his army of mafia bobble-head goons and freaks and now the Republican Party is an institution just filled with weirdos obsessed with things like cocaine-fueled orgies, Disney erotica, and testicle tanning."

Speaking to MSNBC on Monday evening, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) responded to a leaked Supreme Court decision that would overturn Roe v. Wade. According to Raskin, a Constitutional lawyer, this is a 'full-on example of The Handmaid's Tale," the notorious novel, written by Margaret Atwood, that describes a dystopian world in which women are forced to give birth by the state.

"The basic legal claim here is that the word 'abortion' doesn't appear in the Constitution, and of course, it doesn't appear in the Constitution, but the Supreme Court, in 1973, in Roe vs. Wade or Griswold vs. Connecticut, which was a 1965 decision by the Supreme Court striking down a law banning birth control, even for married couples in Connecticut," Raskin explained. "The Supreme Court said that the due process liberty clause includes a right to privacy, over into intimate decision-making. So, the point is that Justice [Samuel] Alito's decision would apply also, presumably, to the right to privacy in contraception."

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R-GA) is a key witness to the investigation into possible voter fraud in the state, after it became clear that the White House and allies of Donald Trump were pressing officials to change the outcome of the 2020 election.

The Fulton County district attorney in Georgia has been working with a special grand jury to look into the actions around the 2020 election. A special grand jury, however, doesn't have the power to indict anyone. While they can issue subpoenas, the special grand jury would have to send their findings to a regular grand jury to approve the indictments.

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) was one of the far-right Republicans whose information cited by Oath Keepers under investigation by the Justice Department for their alleged roles in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Monday, the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack sent letters to Jackson along with Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Mo Brooks (R-AL). The letter asks for information that could help the probe into "the facts, circumstances, and causes of the January 6th attack."

QAnon influencer Romana Didulo claims President Joe Biden has asked her to mediate talks between the U.S. and Russia over the war in Ukraine.

Didulo, who also claims to be "queen of Canada," says she asked Biden to provide her with her own aircraft to fly to Moscow, or possibly St. Petersburg, for the talks, according to BBC correspondent Shayan Sardarizadeh.

A new survey shows that Republicans have lost a seven-point lead since February in a generic congressional race matchup with Democrats, who now have a one-point lead, and the "Morning Joe" host said the GOP's extremism is turning away voters.

The former president backed venture capitalist and "Hillbilly Elegy" author J.D. Vance over former state treasurer Josh Mandel, but he combined their names during a speech at a campaign rally in Nebraska, telling supporters he had endorsed "J.D. Mandel."

He began with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who has waged war with Disney World because they dared to come out against the so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill. The GOP legislature then voted to strip Disney of all of its benefits given by Florida. The problem that the state is now facing is that the deal that was made with Disney is that if Florida ever withdrew from their deal, they would be on the hook for bonds that total about $1 billion.

After the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, posted a meme showing that "both sides" have moved toward the extreme. It was resoundingly denounced by those who dedicate time to researching and monitoring such movements. But it sparked a conversation about just how far the GOP has gone to the right, culminating in an actual insurrection on the U.S. Capitol in Washington.

"Most people don't follow politics closely, and, therefore, it's very easy to just go, 'far left — far right. They're the same!' And take an equidistant position between the two extremes, and it's not just Musk doing that," said MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan. "I mean, vast swaths of the American media, sadly. Molly, if you think, if anyone thinks America's far-left and far-right are equally dangerous, surely, they must be suffering from some form of brain rot. But it's important to point out. It's not just Musk. It's many people in our media."
