Andrew Weissmann, the former senior prosecutor for special counsel Robert Mueller, explained to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace that the lawyers on the Georgia call with President Donald Trump are asking for a completely different thing than Trump was.

"I would add that the Ukraine call, that led to impeachment, which is remarkably similar," said Weissmann. "The difference now is one of timing. His presidency is about to be over and you're exactly right that there's now a really different level of pressure on the new administration as to what it's going to do. In other words, will it be okay for the president to do what happened here, the precedent of not being accountable?"

Meghan McCain's first day back on "The View" brought fire between the left and the right while they discussed the release of a tape of President Donald Trump demanding that the Georgia secretary of state "find" 11,780 votes to change the election.

McCain argued that President-elect Joe Biden barely won and that Democrats should be more respectful of the 70 million Americans that cast ballots for Trump.

While women have spent decades advocating for a federal program allowing women to have paid family leave, conservatives have denied such a program, despite claiming to be the pro-family party.

The Washington Post released the full one-hour audio of President Donald Trump demanding that the Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger "find" more than 11,000 votes so that he can change Georgia to a Trump state.

Trump was insistent that he won the state, citing a slew of QAnon conspiracy theories that aren't accurate. At one point, Raffensperger told Trump that his facts simply weren't accurate. In a claim that 5,000 dead people fraudulently voted, Raffensperger explained they only found two where it was clear someone voted who was no longer alive.

Progressive newsman Keith Olbermann blasted Donald Trump's latest scandal. The Republican Party leader demanded that Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger "find" 11,780 votes to overthrow the state from voting for President-elect Joe Biden.

Biden, who won 306 electoral votes, would still win even if Trump could convince Raffensperger to "find" the additional ballots for Trump.

President Donald Trump's attempt to extort the Georgia secretary of state on Saturday while being taped. It is remarkably similar to the phone call Trump had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where he demanded the new president find "dirt" on former Vice President Joe Biden's son in a blackmailed scheme.

That scandal ended with Trump being impeached for bribery, but Republicans in the Senate refused to hold the president accountable. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) even went so far as to claim that Trump "learned his lesson."

New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi explained on CNN that the overwhelming number of traditional Republicans in office are angry at Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) because they never saw him as a member of the crazy sect of the GOP.

Nuzzi, who later tweeted about her interview, explained that one official put it, "He's not some moron like Louie Gohmert."

On CNN Friday, Trump biographer Michael D'Antonio broke down the significance of outgoing Vice President Mike Pence distancing himself from the president's push to overturn the election.

"Vice President Mike Pence is pushing back against a last-ditch effort to get Republicans to overturn the victory," said anchor John Avlon. "Michael, Pence so eager to please Donald Trump, but how does he navigate his role Wednesday?"

On CNN Friday, incoming Rep. Carlos Giminez (R-FL) refused to commit to accepting the results of the Electoral College, claiming that he will "sit as a juror" in the proceedings and "listen to the evidence" about whether there were election irregularities.

Conservative strategist Bill Kristol, speaking on CNN a few hours later, was appalled at Giminez's response.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is taking up the attempt to overthrow the 2020 election from the U.S. Senate while Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) plans to do it in the House. Yale historian and expert on authoritarianism, Timothy Snyder, explained on MSNBC Wednesday that it wouldn't be hyperbolic to call it an attempted coup d'etat. He also noted that Hawley's attempts are an attack on people of color.

Snyder, who literally wrote the book on tyranny, explained that the worst part about Hawley and his ilk is that it's a "big lie" and that they all know it.

On Wednesday's edition of CNN's "The Situation Room," former Republican election lawyer Ben Ginsberg, a key player in the Bush v. Gore litigation, tore into the move by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) to challenge the election results in several states when Congress gathers to certify the Electoral College.

"Senator Josh Hawley plans to reject these election results when congress meets next week, and we're hearing some updated information just in the last several minutes that Hawley plans to challenge the results coming from multiple states," said anchor Jim Acosta. "And so this could drag out the process all day long apparently next week. He's considering this from what we understand, what the senator is saying at this point. But this has zero percent chance of success, isn't that right?"

MSNBC commentator John Heilemann explained how the Republican Party was ripe for the taking from someone like President Donald Trump.

Host Nicolle Wallace, on Wednesday, explained that the conservative Wall Street Journal blamed Trump if Democrats win in Georgia next week in the runoff elections. But the reality is that Trump is only a symptom of a larger diseased GOP.
