Flynn sentencing memo hints at cooperation with state probes facing Trump family: Investigative reporter
Investigative journalist Michael Isikoff told MSNBC that Michael Flynn's heavily-redacted sentencing memo indicates three different investigations, two of which are unrelated to the Russia probe.
"What leapt out at me is there appears to be two, and likely three, investigations that Flynn has provided cooperation for and information about, only one of which is the core Russia investigation," Isikoff said. "There are two other investigations, criminal investigations he's provided assistance for which, as I read it, likely has been farmed out by Robert Mueller to other prosecutors."
Isikoff declined to say whether the other two cases were related, only that the majority of Flynn's cooperation had to do with other probes.
"When you actually parse the wording really closely, you see when they itemize what Flynn has provided information for, the substantial assistance is in this other criminal investigation, not part of Mueller probe," noting the different language. "He's provided information about something else in another separate criminal investigation."
The Trump organization is facing investigations by the states of New York, Maryland, and by Washington D.C. Additionally, his son-in-law Jared Kushner has been the subject of several state and federal inquiries.
