MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski threw Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell's words back in his face after he refused to call the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol an "insurrection."

The Kentucky Republican would not directly address the topic on Tuesday, saying he had already said enough, so the "Morning Joe" co-host reminded viewers exactly what McConnell said about the deadly assault on the Capitol by Donald Trump's supporters as Congress certified Joe Biden's election win.

A self-described "redneck" TikTok user recorded herself burning and renouncing the Confederate flag after learning about its meaning.

The woman, whose user name is @TikTok_hates_me__, shared the video Sunday showing herself setting fire to the flag on her porch and then tossing it onto a bonfire in subsequent posts, reported Newsweek.

MSNBC's Brian Williams closed his show Tuesday night by defending those mocking President Donald Trump for his ill-fitting pants on display at the North Carolina Republican Party dinner.

Williams, like many, was swept up in the comedy of the moment of those claiming that Trump's trousers were on backward. While other angles and high definition proved the theory false, it did spark another look at Trump's pants problem.

Attorney General Merrick Garland decided to uphold Attorney General Bill Barr's decision to use the United States Justice Department to defend Donald Trump against a defamation suit from a woman who said that she raped her.

"Under Merrick Garland, the Department of Justice is AWOL on all of the important stuff facing them right now," Maddow proclaimed.

On CNN Tuesday, anchor Chris Cuomo tore into Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for his opposition to the John Lewis Voting Rights Act — and matched up his rhetoric with a clip of a senator who, more than half a century ago, used similar arguments to defend Jim Crow.

"Of course, McConnell says the bill won't have his vote. But listen to why," said Cuomo, playing the tape. "What they're trying to do directly through H.R. 1, they would try to achieve indirectly through this rewrite of the Voting Rights Act," said McConnell in the clip. "It's against the law to discriminate in voting on the basis of race already. And so I think it's unnecessary."

Terrorism, intelligence, insurgency, and torture expert Malcolm Nance joined retired Capitol Police Officer Butch Jones to demand action from officials blocking the Jan. 6 Commission.

Speaking to MSNBC's Joy Reid, Jones explained that the Republicans' newly released report on Jan. 6 made it clear that they are trying to scapegoat the Capitol Police for the attack.

On Tuesday's edition of MSNBC's "The Beat," Ari Melber mocked right-wing cable network Newsmax for refusing to hire Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) — after the cozy relationship the two enjoyed for a long time was frayed by the report that the FBI is investigating him in a child trafficking case.

"It was just hours before this story broke on March 30th that Gaetz began floating the idea of retiring from Congress altogether, pursuing a job at Newsmax, according to three sources who spoke to Axios," said Melber. "Conservative media was already part of his job." He played clips of the two of them complimenting each other, with Gaetz saying, "Newsmax has talk that is the truth and has breaking news. Both of these things can be very threatening to folks in Congress," and one Newsmax host calling Gaetz "a hero during the impeachment hearings and beyond."

Sandra Garza, the partner of fallen Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick spoke to CNN Tuesday about her loss and the anger she has around the attack on the U.S. Capitol that led to his death.

Both she and Sicknick were avid Trump supporters, but in wake of the attack, things have changed.

On Fox News Tuesday, contributor Katie Pavlich went after Vice President Kamala Harris, who is currently in the middle of a tour of Mexico and Central America to address the source of the migrant surge — a trip that many on the right have already declared a failure because Harris hasn't posed for a photo-op at the southern border.

"This is what happens when you choose your Vice President based on gender and skin color, not on talent and expertise," said Pavlich in discussion with the hosts of The Five.

On CNN Tuesday, DC Metro Police Officer Michael Fanone, whose body camera footage graphically showed him being attacked while defending the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, discussed the new Senate report on the riot — and laid into allies of former President Donald Trump who egged it on with their words.

"I thought it was a good start," said Fanone. "But ... it doesn't go into the root causes. Some of the questions that I still have: Who are these groups that are involved in the insurrection that day? What is their, if any, communication that they may have had with members of their government and their staff? And also, where's the funding for these groups coming from, and what type of communication had they had prior to Jan. 6th?"

CNN host Brian Stelter told Jake Tapper on Tuesday that he had to nearly rewrite his book Hoax: Donald Trump, Fox News and the Dangerous Distortion of Truth for the paperback version because so much has happened since it was first published in hardback.

He explained that about a dozen Fox News staffers came to him privately to say that they were "distraught" over the network's downplaying of the attack on the U.S. Capitol. More recently, the liberal group Meidas Touch gave Fox News just under $200,000 to run an ad with statements from Capitol and D.C. police officers about what they experienced on that day. Fox refused to run the ad, effectively canceling the police officers they purport to support.

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace was once a well-known Republican staffer for President George W. Bush. She then worked on Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, but since Donald Trump took over her party, she's defected. Now she's arguing that it isn't exactly Trump that is the problem anymore.

"You know, Michael Steele," Wallace said to the former Republican Party chairman, "I just want to put this out there because I hear this, 'why can't we let Trump go?' I let Trump go. It was the happiest day of my life. But the damage that he's done to our country and the fact that he's turned the party into an anti-democratic movement is irreparable, and it's harm that's already done and potentially catastrophic in the damage it could do in the future."

At the top of his Tuesday show, CNN host Jake Tapper addressed some of the missing items the Republicans neglected to investigate as part of their report on the Jan. 6 attacks.

While some have noted that they left out words like "insurrection" and anything related to GOP responsibility, including former President Donald Trump, Tapper noted that there are other important issues that the report neglects.
