Trump loses bid to dodge judge he called 'unbelievably unfair' in NY fraud case

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday lost his bid to dodge a New York judge he called "unbelievably unfair."

New York Attorney General Letitia James last month filed a $250 million lawsuit against Trump, three of his adult children and his company, accusing them of a decade-long fraud scheme following a three-year investigation. James and Trump have battled in court throughout the probe as Trump and his children sought to avoid record requests and interviews with investigators. Judge Arthur Engoron, who heard matters related to the probe, at one point fined Trump $110,000 for defying his order to sit for a deposition, prompting Trump to complain that "we have a judge that frankly has been unbelievably unfair."

Jan. 6 committee struggling to find Trump attorney to serve his subpoena: ABC

Ongoing drama with Donald Trump legal teams continues to slow investigations, according to a new report by ABC News.

"The Jan. 6 committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol has yet to formally subpoena former President Donald Trump, in part because investigators are still trying to find someone authorized to accept service of it," ABC reported, citing "sources familiar with the matter."

Denied: New York judge strikes down Trump motion to reassign NYAG's lawsuit

A New York judge on Wednesday denied a motion from former President Donald Trump's legal team to have New York Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit against the Trump Organization reassigned to a new judge. James is suing the Trump Organization for alleged fraud.

Administrative Judge Adam Silvera said in a Wednesday filing that state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron was properly assigned the case. Engoron has a history of ruling against Trump.

Donald Trump's family business is drawing new scrutiny from New York Attorney General Letitia James after creating a company named "Trump Organization II."

"Days before the New York attorney general filed a lawsuit accusing Donald J. Trump and his company of fraud and seeking to shut down some of their business in the state, Mr. Trump’s lawyers created a new company in Delaware," The New York Times reported. 'Stop wasting time': Manhattan judge rebukes Trump lawyers in defamation case

Former President Donald Trump’s legal headaches include not only all the investigations he is facing —from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis to New York Attorney General Letitia James — but also, the various civil lawsuits he is up against. One of them has come from journalist E. Jean Carroll, who filed a defamation lawsuit against Trump. When Trump’s lawyers tried to stop a deposition in that case, they received a stern rebuke from U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in a Manhattan courtroom: “Stop wasting time. It goes forward.”

The witness in the case who is scheduled to give a deposition is Stephanie Grisham, former White House Press secretary in the Trump Administration and author of the 2021 book, “I'll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw at the Trump White House.” Grisham was the third of Trump’s four White House press secretaries, coming after Sarah Huckabee Sanders and before Kayleigh McEnany (now a pundit for Fox News).
