"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver unleashed on people like Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the Olympic Committee and general fools for being so eager to bring loads of people together despite the seriousness of the COVID-19 delta variant.

He began by criticizing the Olympics for bringing together thousands of people from every country of the world and thinking that they could somehow keep people safe from a deadly virus that travels through the air everyone breathes. There has been a 122 percent increase in COVID cases in the area since the Olympics began in Japan. While the Japanese people desperately attempted to get the Olympics to pause the games a little longer, they went ignored.

With the massive Bootleg Fire less than half contained and having burned nearly 409,000 acres in Oregon, Democratic Gov. Kate Brown appeared on CNN Sunday to discuss current conditions in her state, the climate emergency, and what the future may look like across the U.S. West.

"The harsh reality is that we're going to see more of these wildfires," Brown told host Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."

Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced Sunday that he has COVID-19 for a second time.

Texas Republican Ted Cruz couldn't help himself. On Sunday, the senator lashed out at Democrats without even a hint of irony. According to Cruz, the Jan. 6 committee isn't to his liking because it involves Republicans who supported impeaching Donald Trump for inciting a riot that led to an attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol.

Cruz had an opportunity to vote for a bipartisan commission where Republicans could appoint whoever they wanted and as many Republicans as they wanted. He voted against it progressing, leading Pelosi no other choice but to appoint Republicans who aren't to Donald Trump's liking.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) attacked an Air Force Lt. Colonel on Sunday, telling him that he's a "traitor."

She made the comment after Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) agreed to join the Jan. 6 special select committee as one of the Republicans willing to examine the attack on the U.S. Capitol in a bipartisan way. Greene didn't feel that Kinzinger was right for the job because he already voted to impeach Trump for the Jan. 6 attack.

In May, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn joked about a coup to take over the American government. Now he's "joking" about assassination.

When being awarded over the weekend with a new rifle, Flynn told the audience in Yuba, California, "Maybe I'll find someone in Washington, D.C."

Former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was often criticized for lying to the press so many times that PolitiFact lists her false claim rate at 66 percent. After her tenure in the White House, Vanity Fair also crafted a list of some of her most egregious lies.

So it isn't surprising that in her latest op-ed, she continued the trend. Writing for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, Sanders falsely claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris said that she would never take a vaccine that former President Donald Trump created. She sang the praises of the vaccine that many Trump supporters have refused to get and complained that Trump isn't getting enough credit for fast-tracking the vaccine people complain they won't take because it was fast-tracked.

Among the many that were allowed to use COVID-19 funds without much oversight was a conservative Michigan town where county commissioners used the allotted money to pay themselves bonuses.

According to The Guardian, called out Shiawassee County commissioners were told by prosecutors that the payments were illegal and that they had to be paid back. The Argus Press reported the incident to the local community, explaining that the Michigan state constitution doesn't allow such compensation "after services had already been rendered," prosecutor Scott Koerner explained.

Trump was certain that "voters would be heartened by images of church pews packed with parishioners on Easter Sunday and families out celebrating over brunch in neighborhood restaurants."

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) appeared on MSNBC Thursday to discuss bills that are coming before the Senate. But in talking about COVID-19 and the vaccine, Cramer claimed that people can't even pray for someone's health anymore because of HIPAA laws.

It's a bizarre conspiracy that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) started because she doesn't want to reveal her vaccination status to her constituents or to supporters of the Republican Party.
