Arizona Republican admits GOP is uniquely 'insane' when it comes to accepting election losses

On Tuesday's edition of MSNBC's "The ReidOut," Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, a Republican who has called out election conspiracy theories surrounding the Arizona results, acknowledged that when it comes to election issues, his party has a near-monopoly on "insanity."

"Are you worried this becomes the standard way that your party behaves when they lose elections?" asked anchor Joy Reid.

Liz Cheney knows something dangerous about Kevin McCarthy and Jan. 6: ex-Congressman

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said that Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is never going to be the Speaker, former Republican Rep. David Jolly (FL) explained on MSNBC Tuesday.

According to Jolly, the reason that McCarthy and other Republicans want to block any Jan. 6 Commission is that it might expose their involvement or coordination.

Rick Scott begs Trump to stop trying to influence Republican Senate primaries

On Tuesday, Florida Politics reported that Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) doubled down on his pleas for former President Donald Trump to stop jumping into Senate races and coronating candidates in the primary, saying that the process should play out with voters.

"Scott made the comments Tuesday on Fox News Radio's 'Brian Kilmeade Show,'" wrote A.G. Gankarski. 'What I've suggested to him is to let the citizens of that state pick their primary winner,' Scott said. 'And then help those that win that he believes in.'" Scott added, "And so, but, you know, he believes in things that I believe in," like a "secure border."

'Many Republicans' think excuses for resisting the Jan. 6 Commission are 'incredibly lame'

According to those on the far-right in Congress, the opposition to the Jan. 6 Commission isn't a smart idea. According to Punchbowl News, Republicans are expressing their disapproval of right-wing members for a commission that would investigate how the attack happened and how to prevent future attacks. It'll be modeled off the 9/11 Commission and finish with a set of recommendations and findings.

"Sure, there are some Republicans who can toe the line and say that they will oppose it because it doesn't allow for an investigation into all political violence. But many in the party are finding that excuse incredibly lame," Punchbowl reported.

St Louis gun vigilante announces Senate run using image on a farm — even though he isn't a farmer

Missouri's open Senate race gained a new entrant on Tuesday, as Mark McCloskey, the man who, with his wife, became infamous for brandishing guns at Black Lives Matter protesters, declared his candidacy, with his official announcement set to take place on Tucker Carlson's show in the evening.

But one interesting element of his campaign caught the eye of some on social media: the fact that his campaign image shows him standing on a farm in front of a tractor, even though he is a personal injury attorney and not a farmer, and lives in a suburban mansion just outside St. Louis.

America's 'Satanic Panic' is back — thanks to QAnon

On Tuesday, NPR's All Things Considered took a deep dive into the roots of the QAnon conspiracy theory — and drew a straight line to it from the "Satanic Panic" that swept through America in the 1980s, in which preschool teachers were suspected of abusing children in rituals to appease the devil.

"Decades later, echoes of that same fear had emerged in QAnon," reported Noah Caldwell, Ari Shapiro, Patrick Jarenwattananon, and Mia Venkat. "The seemingly novel conspiracy theory has grown in far-right political circles since November 2017. Adherents of QAnon believe that a shadowy cabal kidnaps children, tortures them and uses their blood in Satanic rituals. The alleged perpetrators in QAnon are Democratic politicians — not preschool teachers, as had been the case in the 1980s — but the accusations are eerily similar."

Internet joins Rick Wilson in ignoring McCarthy and demanding investigation into Republicans involved in 1/6

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said on Monday that the reason her colleagues are afraid of the Jan. 6 Commission is that it could reveal that some GOP lawmakers were involved. Former Republican Rick Wilson noted that it's the exact reason that Democrats should move forward with investigating those officials suspected of helping attackers of the U.S. Capitol.

McCarthy had worked with Democrats on the commission, even sending written items that he wanted. For some reason, McCarthy has decided he opposes it after Rep. John Katko (R-NY) agreed with the terms.

GOP blasted for interfering with racist Space Force commander who was fired after right-wing interview

Space Force Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier spoke to The Steve Gruber show about his new book "Irresistible Revolution: Marxism's Goal of Conquest and the Unmaking of the American Military," which ultimately led to him being fired. Republicans have raced to his defense, saying that Lohmeier was doing nothing more than speaking out against Marxism, but that isn't entirely accurate.

Lohmeier likely wasn't fired for trashing the military publicly. Active duty military members, including Space Force, are typically regulated by military rules that prevent speaking to the press without permission from his boss, CNN.com explained Monday.

Former appointed Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) is running again to regain her seat after being voted out in a 2021 runoff. However, she's causing a lot of anger among her donors after she was caught in a similar scandal as former President Donald Trump.
