MSNBC host Chris Hayes couldn't help but notice that Republicans have an opportunity to stop their own 2024 primary opponent but they're refusing to accept it.

Speaking to Bulwark writer Tim Miller, Hayes noted that some have argued that Republicans are afraid of former President Donald Trump and that's why they're giving him a pass even though they were terrified on Jan. 6.

Newly elected Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) lashed out at liberal commentator Keith Olbermann on Twitter, alleging that he threatened her after he alleged that she would end up in jail as a traitor. It apparently didn't work because Olbermann is back with another attack on Greene and calling for the FBI to investigate her social media posts.

Greene reportedly posted several things on her social media in 2018 and 2019 that called for the deaths of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, FBI agents and other Democrats.

Speaking on MSNBC Tuesday, Alex Wagner of "The Circus" said that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would weaponize the Senate gym if he was able to do it.

She explained that while the country is facing a slate of challenges, "we're dealing with a Republican Party that's imploding before our very eyes. We talk about the fact that Mitch McConnell is trying to weaponize an organizing resolution. Everybody should take a moment and absorb that. This organizing resolution is a pro forma piece of Senate parliamentary procedure. Mitch McConnell tried to weaponize it. That, to me, indicates the Republican Party will leave no stone unturned in terms of the levers of power. If they could weaponize the Senate gym, they would. Anything that there is, they will try to use as a lever of power because they understand they are dealing with an administration and a Democratic Party that is emboldened, that is scared for the future of the country and that is willing to do a lot of really big things to save what I think they see as the country on a precipice."

Senators were sworn in for the impeachment trial on Tuesday, but MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said that it has become clear the Republican Party has already been "kidnapped or hijacked by Donald Trump and his kids because Donald Trump can't speak anymore."

Capitol Hill reporter Garrett Haake explained that former President Donald Trump is the ex-boyfriend that the GOP can't shake.

"The View" co-host Meghan McCain vowed she would never quit the Republican Party, no matter how far off the rails it flew, because it was her birthright.

The conservative daughter of GOP Sen. John McCain has been coming to terms in recent weeks with the party's fanaticism, but she told host Whoopi Goldberg it meant too much to her and her family to hand over to kooks and cultists.

The "Morning Joe" host started the segment by marveling that many GOP voters apparently believed their political opponents were "cannibals and pedophiles," but then noted, somewhat ironically, that Republicans were "eating their own" in a purge of non-believers.

"The View" co-host Meghan McCain wasn't about to join in the celebration of the new presidential administration's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

The other co-hosts were pleased to see Dr. Anthony Fauci speak more freely than he'd been permitted under former president Donald Trump, but the conservative McCain bashed the infectious disease expert and President Joe Biden.

A North Carolina state legislator vowed he'll never accept President Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 election after insisting he's not crazy to believe the vote was stolen.

State Sen. Bob Steinburg again insisted on Facebook that he believes former president Donald Trump's unfounded conspiracy theories about the election -- whether they involve China, the CIA, the FBI or an alleged blackmail campaign against Chief Justice John Roberts -- rather than accept the assurance of numerous officials and courts that the vote was conducted lawfully, reported WRAL-TV.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough burned down Fox News for continuing to push Donald Trump's lies about his election loss that led to a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

The "Morning Joe" host called out the competition for letting hosts and guests continue pushing false claims that President Joe Biden illegitimately won the election, and said they were risking more violent actions against the new administration.

"The View" co-hosts battled it out on Thursday following President Joe Biden's inauguration. While they gushed over Biden's speech, the fashion of notable women and the events that followed, Joy Behar asked why members like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Halwy (R-MO) were even in attendance given they worked so hard to try and overthrow the election.

"The other thing I want to know is how did Ted Cruz get in there?" Behar asked. " Did he come in underneath Lady Gaga's skirt? These are the questions I have today. What is he doing there? Why are these enemies there? The whole thing was beautiful. I loved the poet. I loved Joe. I loved the three presidents talking and making sense. It was like we had been kidnapped by some crazy family for four years and our parents have come to pick us up and you say to them, well, where were you all these years, you know?"

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough was eager to consign Qanon cultists and white supremacist mobs to the dustbin of history after Donald Trump left office.

The "Morning Joe" host pointed to new revelations that pro-Trump conspiracy theorist Michael Flynn's brother, U.S. Army chief of staff Charles Flynn, took part in a meeting to decide whether to call in the National Guard to quell the violence at the U.S. Capitol, which had been incited by the former president and his right-wing allies.

After being sworn into office at noon Wednesday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris welcomed Americans from across the country to sing, dance and play music on the National Day of Unity.

Presidential historian Michael Beschloss didn't hold back talking about the way that the Trump administration trashed the White House.

While cameras showed the south side of the White House, Beschloss pointed to the West Wing and the blank space where first lady Jackie Kennedy's Rose Garden once stood.
