‘Next best thing to Trump’: GOP operatives ‘stunned’ by Marjorie Taylor Greene's endorsement clout

To the apparent surprise of Republican operatives, Georgia GOP Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene's endorsement is in high demand in party primaries across the country.

Referring to Greene as a "COVID vaccine-hating, conspiracy theory-spewing freshman congresswoman who came to national prominence as a far-right QAnon promoter," the Daily Beast reported Thursday that her endorsement is coveted in large part due to her "direct line to former President Trump and her vast network of small grassroots donors."

Marjorie Taylor Greene's 'Gazpacho police' is very dumb — but we underestimate her at our peril

Poor Marjorie Taylor Greene! Not too long ago, this taxpayer-funded troll knew how capture the news cycle for days with a glib comparison of public health officials to the Nazi brass or a shameless equivalence of COVID-19 mitigation measures to the Holocaust. She regularly drew juicy denunciations from famous Democrats. She even got the Anti-Defamation League and Holocaust Museum involved, which is like winning the troll lottery. But recently, the Republican congresswoman from Georgia has been suffering diminishing returns for her relentless, risible Nazi talk. Why, she went on Infowars last week to compare Dr. Anthony Fauci to Josef Mengele and barely anyone paid attention. To add insult to injury, the decline in attention also means that triggering-the-liberals money is drying up.

Suddenly, in what is truly a tremendous stroke of good luck, Greene mispronounced a word. On Tuesday, during one of her approximately 8 trillion public statements accusing her perceived political opponents of being Nazis, Greene used the word "gazpacho" when she meant "Gestapo." She was on One America News when she very loudly and unmistakably mispronounced this word, so the moment went unnoticed for about a day. But then, blessed forever by the gods of trolling, Greene got lucky and a never-Trumper group called the Republican Accountability Project tweeted the video out.

Is the new GOP rule you can't make fun of Marjorie Taylor Greene if you can't attack Liz Cheney?

Republicans have spent the better part of 2022 attacking Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) for her refusal to placate former President Donald Trump. Last year, she voted to impeach Trump for the Jan. 6 riot and all that led up to it. Her participation on the House Select Committee investigating Jan. 6 has made things even worse.

This week, Senate Republicans and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have come forward to complain about the RNC calling the Jan. 6 committee an attack on "legitimate political discourse." He, along with his Senate colleagues, said that a circular firing squad isn't productive for the GOP, particularly leading into the 2022 midterm elections.

Marjorie Taylor Greene accuses Pelosi of sending 'Gazpacho Police' -- and unleashes a wave of ridicule

On Wednesday, in an interview with the podcast Real America with Dan Ball, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made an odd choice of words during a rant against the Capitol Police.

"Not only do we have the D.C. Jail, which is the D.C. Gulag, but now we have Nancy Pelosi's Gazpacho Police, spying on members of Congress, spying on the legislative work that we do, spying on our staff, and spying on American citizens that want to come talk to their representatives. This government has turned into something it was never meant to be, and it's time to make it end."

Texas Republicans battle to out-Trump each other as the GOP slips further toward the fringe

It wasn't too long ago that the Republican Party was friendly to immigrants and people of color. While at Liberty University, Christian Collins was finishing up his graduate thesis on how the GOP's talking points about Hispanics impacts how the group views the Republican Party.

Now that thesis is a key piece in a Texas Primary election in a GOP that now pushes a kind of no-immigrant policy, the Daily Beast reported Wednesday.
