Meghan McCain lashes out at View co-host for being concerned about Jan. 6 attack accountability

The conversation got heated Thursday when "The View" co-host Meghan McCain lectured Sara Haines for continuing to be bothered over the Jan. 6 attacks on the U.S. Capitol instead of what she deemed to be "real problems."

The conversation began as the panel talked about outright denialism from Republicans on the House Oversight Committee Wednesday. Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) announced that he is an insurrection denier to viewers, saying that those who attacked police, and trashed the Capitol were just "visitors" being "orderly" in Statuary Hall that day.

It has been almost three years since the tumultuous confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and a new piece in The Atlantic is exposing some behind-the-scenes information that went unreported at the time.

One story from those who attend church with Kavanaugh recalled Easter Sunday about six months after he was sworn in. After the mass, Father Foley stood outside the church to thank people for coming. Kavanaugh weaseled his way at the priest's elbow to thank them too, "as though Brett were the priest and they were his flock."

CNN's Chris Cuomo demands Republicans answer for lawmaker's support of Capitol insurrectionists

On CNN Wednesday, anchor Chris Cuomo called on Republicans to answer for whether they agree with Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and his conspiracy theories in support of the Capitol rioters.

"Let's be honest, near half this country — at least you guys say you don't want to be a member of either of these parties," said Cuomo. "So you have all of you and the 30 percent of the remaining, reasonable people within Republican ranks. Now for those Republicans, I told you everybody else, ignore the game. For those within the game, because you are the game within the game within that party, are you going to keep paying attention to people like Paul Gosar, who helped incite the insurrection? Will you allow him to speak for you by defending the terrorists, like this?"

Rachel Maddow explains how Bill Barr's corruption in document scandal could end in a Trump indictment

One of the biggest revelations this month was in the court decision by federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who ruled that former Attorney General Bill Barr lied to Congress, the court and the country when he claimed that the Justice Department had done an investigation into whether it could charge Donald Trump. Not only was there no investigation or collaboration with deputies and prosecutors, it was Barr's decision, followed by the falsification of documents to justify it after the fact.

Those documents are slated to become public by Monday if the new Justice Department doesn't fight the case. That comes as Democrats got former White House Counsel Don McGahn to agree to testify about what he told special counsel Robert Mueller in the Russia investigation that resulted in so many examples of obstruction of justice in part two of Mueller's report.

GOP's Paul Gosar slammed by home state columnist for 'spirited defense' of Capitol rioters

On Wednesday, writing for The Arizona Republic, columnist Laurie Roberts laid into Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) for repeatedly offering a revisionist history in "spirited defense" of the pro-Trump insurrectionists who violently stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

"During a House hearing on the events of Jan. 6, Gosar chastised the FBI for having the nerve to ask the public's help in tracking down what he called 'peaceful patriots' and he demanded the security footage of what occurred before and during the riot," wrote Roberts. 'Such footage would provide answers that would contain exculpatory evidence regarding outrageous accusations against members of Congress,' he said, 'and most importantly, exonerate the many Americans who peacefully protested and never set foot in the Capitol.' Like the ones who dragged police officers down the Capitol steps and beat them with metal flagpoles and hockey sticks as the mob chanted 'USA USA USA'? The ones armed with wooden clubs and bear spray and knives?"

Trump posts furious attack on 'loser' former staffer Miles Taylor on his blog: 'a lowlife I didn't know'

On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump took to his new blog to trash Miles Taylor, a former Homeland Security chief of staff in his administration who penned the infamous "anonymous" op-ed against Trump in The New York Times, endorsed President Joe Biden, and is now threatening to form a moderate conservative party.

"Some people refer to him as 'absolutely nothing,'" wrote Trump. "I hear he is on CNN and MSDNC all the time, but he had nothing to do with any of my decisions, and I wouldn't even know what he looks like. He is the guy who fraudulently wrote a make-believe book and statement to the failing New York Times calling himself 'Anonymous.' That's right, he, a lowlife that I didn't know, was Anonymous. Now he's putting together a group of RINOs and Losers who are coming out to protest President Trump."

Republicans triggered in Jan. 6 hearing turn to gaslighting, whitewashing and shouting: analysis

A CNN analysis of the House Jan. 6 hearing Wednesday walked through the rancor and rage coming from supporters of former President Donald Trump as they were faced with the reality and accountability of the Capitol attack.

The analysis began with the gaslighting from at least three Republicans who downplayed the riot or denying it altogether. Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) announced that he is an insurrection denier to viewers, saying that those who attacked police, and trashed the Capitol were just "visitors" being "orderly" in Statuary Hall that day.

Republicans are 'no longer Americans' because they've stopped supporting democracy: Howard Dean

On Wednesday's edition of MSNBC's "The Beat," former Democratic Party chair Howard Dean outlined the existential threat Republicans pose to American democracy — and suggested that as long as the GOP is on this path, they cannot call themselves American at all.

"I think this is a more serious problem than what's going on in the Republican Party," said Dean. "This is a contest to see if our democracy and our country survives. And most Republicans have chosen their power and chosen not to have a democratic country. The lies that have been told, there was a Georgia congressman out there saying there was no insurrection and it was all peaceful and all this stuff. It is not just the lies that Trump won the election. It is the Republican Party that has embraced this lie."
