California prosecutors are investigating abuse of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), the loans given to businesses suffering under the economic crisis ushered in from the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the New York Times, one person used the government handouts to purchase a Lamborghini, Bentley and Ferrari.

"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver closed off the news week with a commentary on the absurd efforts by the Arizona Republican Party to "recount" the 2020 election votes in an effort to "find" discrepancies that could somehow prove that Donald Trump won the election.

"For the record, this recount is a total joke," said Oliver.

Sheriff's Sargent Dennis Carry is being charged with multiple felonies, but despite the best efforts from local news media, city officials have refused to comply with documents that are typically public. Nevada has its own version of the national Freedom of Information Act at the state level. Still, the city has rebuffed media efforts to uncover what the charges are against Carry.

This is Reno explained that they began seeking answers into Carry more than a year ago. Over and over again the Reno Police Department fought back. The information was also denied by the Reno City Attorney's Office, despite a 200-page affidavit by police department Detective Trenton Johnson being available to another public agency.

Axios reported Sunday that a former official in President Donald Trump's administration formed a group in Florida to stack the deck against Democrats in an attempt to win back Congress in 2022.

While both parties use the tactic, the GOP has used it to try and win in North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Ohio, Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia. On his show Sunday, CNN host Jim Acosta addressed Fox News host Tucker Carlson and the bad-faith questions that he's asked about the COVID-19 vaccine.

The "questions" came to a head on Wednesday when Carlson implied that thousands of people had died as a result of the COVID-19 vaccine. In fact, what was found is that because elderly people were prioritized to get the vaccine, some of them died as a result of their age or illnesses in the weeks that followed.

Attorney Lin Wood addressed the South Carolina Bikers for Trump rally Sunday as he continued to campaign to chair the state's Republican Party.

Among the things that Wood said in his speech, which took longer than an hour, was that former President Donald Trump would be running for his "third term" in 2024. If Trump supporters believe that Trump is the president now, then they can't vote for him in 2024 because the constitution limits two terms as president.

During the Bikers for Trump rally in South Carolina Sunday, My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell gave an hour-long meandering speech highlighting his history as a crack addict who found Jesus and became a millionaire pillow manufacturer.

"What is this ex-crack addict sitting next to the president? Jesus is real!" Lindell told the crowd.

A Bikers for Trump rally turned into an anti-vaccine rally when a woman gave her testimony that ten days after getting the vaccine her son dropped dead.

According to Cynthia Elm, her autistic son, Wayne "dropped dead for no reason" on May 1, she sobbed talking to the audience. Ms. Elm said that after an autopsy there were no reasons that they could find that would have caused him to die so abruptly.

Republican Gov. Larry Hogan (MD) discussed the GOP being taken over by those who will continue to perpetuate the "big lie" that former President Donald Trump won the 2020 election.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) is expected to be shoved out of her leadership position in the House GOP this week because she refuses to agree to spread the lie the Trump and Republican Party are behind. It prompted Hogan to tell "Meet the Press" that such a litmus test is antithetical to the belief in GOP's freedoms.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr nearly quit when Donald Trump sought to fire another FBI director in four years, reported BusinessInsider Sunday.

FBI directors are appointed for 10-year terms by the president but when Trump came into office, he asked then-FBI director James Comey for his "loyalty," according to Comey's account. When Comey refused to pledge allegiance to Trump, he was shoved out, and replaced by Christopher Wray. But Trump nearly shoved out Wray in spring 2020 -- just three years into his term.

BuzzFeed news reported Thursday that a former employee for Erik Prince's defense contractor firm Blackwater did Rudy Giuliani's security during his 2019 allegedly nefarious activities in Ukraine.

Giuliani was raided by the FBI last week as part of his efforts in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky's former aide revealed to MSNBC Wednesday that Giuliani seemed to have a lot of different titles about his role for former President Donald Trump.
