The 84 people who signed bogus documents claiming that Donald Trump won the 2020 election include dozens of local Republican Party leaders, seven current candidates for public office, eight current office holders and at least five previous state and federal office holders.

Groups from Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin all allegedly sent lists of so-called alternate electors to the National Archives after the 2020 election. The slate of fake electors includes Lou Barletta and Charlie Gerow, both candidates for governor in Pennsylvania; Burt Jones, a candidate for lieutenant governor in Georgia; James Lamon, a candidate for U.S. Senate from Arizona; and candidates for state legislative seats.

'Nutters leading nutters': Legal experts aghast at the story of Giuliani stopping Trump's military election plot

The New York Times published a bombshell report Monday that exposed more of former President Donald Trump's efforts to overthrow the 2020 election. In one instance, the report says, Trump begged Rudy Giuliani to call the Department of Homeland Security and ask about having the military seize voting machines. His aides also penned multiple executive orders to enact the same.

As the news broke, legal experts were somewhat surprised, but the crux of the story about Trump's further attempt to overthrow the election was simply more of the same that experts have observed. What some did find shocking, however, was that it was Giuliani who told Trump a military takeover wouldn't fly. Giuliani isn't generally known to political or legal pundits as the prudent adviser among Trump's aides.

Demand to seize voting machines 'brings it closer to Trump': Reporter says of election overthrow attempt

Reporter Ashley Parker said that the bombshell reporting from the New York Times brings the attempt to overthrow the election even closer to former President Donald Trump. Others, however, are claiming that this is just part of the narrative that is already known but not fully acknowledged by the Republican Party.

Speaking to "The 11th Hour" on Monday, Parker told Ali Velshi, "we knew there were some of these order ideas floating around." Trump staff had crafted two different executive orders that would have given the DOD the power to seize the voting machines from states that Trump took issue with.

Time for the Jan. 6 committee to 'play hardball' and seek charges against Trump's attorneys: CNN legal analyst

According to CNN legal analyst Elie Hoenig, the House select committee investigating the White House's involvement in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol is being too lenient with members of Donald Trump's inner circle and now the time has come to act.

To date, the committee has issued a flurry of subpoenas in its quest for information about the attack, as well as attempts to steal the 2020 presidential election in Congress with forged election documents, and, while some recipients have acquiesced, many close to Trump have balked.

On Friday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," former federal prosecutor Elie Honig outlined the implications of Congress pursuing the fake "alternate" electors Trump allies sought to submit to Congress from states that Joe Biden carried.

"Fourteen people tied to that subpoena," said anchor Erin Burnett. "They are obviously not going to get all 14 to cooperate and it is a long process, but do you think they will get a few? And is a few or a handful enough?"

Seth Meyers on Wednesday night took aim at Trump-loving Republicans who reacted with "feigned outrage" over President Joe Biden calling a Fox News reporter a "stupid sone of a b*tch" on a hot mic.

“The GOP’s reaction to Biden’s hot mic moment has once again proved that in order to be a Trump supporter, you have to lobotomize the part of your brain responsible for shame," the Late Night host said. "That’s why Rudy Giuliani always looks like he just woke up mid-brain surgery."

‘Bumbling consigliere’ Giuliani exposed dozens of seasoned GOP operatives to legal liability: report

Rudy Giuliani served as Associate Attorney General and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York during the Reagan administration, but his legal maneuvering as part of Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election has reportedly exposed dozens of top Republican operatives to legal liability.

"As some would have it, former President Donald Trump’s attempt to steal the 2020 election was really no big deal," David Graham wrote for The Atlantic. "These defenses are weak—true, the election was not overturned, but that was in fact the goal—and they are getting weaker each day. As more information trickles out from the House January 6 panel, in court, and in press reports, one rattling revelation is just how many people were in on the coup attempt. The plotters might have been grasping at straws, and they might have been ragtag and disorganized, but they were not just a handful of fringe actors. They were a whole corps."

Rudy Giuliani should be 'very worried' as evidence exposes him as coup 'mastermind': Former prosecutor

On Tuesday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," former federal prosecutor Shan Wu broke down the jeopardy facing Rudy Giuliani for his involvement in the plan to submit fake electors to Congress for former President Donald Trump.

"He should be very worried legally," said Wu. "He says that, quote, he wouldn't associate himself with anything false, and there he is doing exactly that. And these evidences coming out that he was in charge of this, his own representations of his role sounds like he is a mastermind, a key player. That's going to be a big problem for him here."
