Chuck Todd claims Jan. 6 committee is ‘surrendering’ by subpoenaing GOP congressmen

Soon-to-be former MSNBC host Chuck Todd on Thursday reported on the subpoenas of Republican elected officials thought to have been involved in events surrounding the Jan. 6 attack. According to Todd, the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 siege on the U.S. Capitol is "surrendering."

"This feels like a bit of surrendering in this respect here there is no other way they think they're going to get cooperation, so they figure, 'let's try to subpoena route,' because I feel like everybody explained to me that they thought the subpoena route was actually delayed their ability to do the investigation and perhaps run out the clock if control of the House of Representatives changes," said Todd.

'A sharp escalation': Jim Jordan and other Republicans hit with subpoenas from Jan. 6 committee

The House committee investigating the riot at the U.S. Capitol issued subpoenas this Thursday to five Republican congressmen, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Congressman Jim Jordan, NBC News reports.

The subpoenas come in the wake of the committee asking the congressmen, also including Scott Perry, Mo Brooks, and Andy Biggs, to sit for voluntary interviews. But all had refused.

Lauren Boebert's campaign caught possessing tens of thousands in illegal donations: report

Controversial first-term Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has found herself caught in yet another scandal over her alleged failure to follow the campaign finance laws that govern political candidates in America.

"In a warning letter from the Federal Election Commission made public on Thursday, Boebert’s latest campaign finance filing for the first quarter of 2022 shows her campaign accepted as much as $30,000 in contributions that exceed federal campaign finance limits," the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported Saturday. "The six-page letter notes 20 separate incidents where the campaign took more than the $2,900 that is allowed for individuals to give in any one election."
