Trump's lawyer brutally mocked for 'insane' court motion that is 'perilously close to gibberish'

On Wednesday, writing for Above the Law, legal analyst Liz Dye ridiculed a new motion from former President Donald Trump's lawyer demanding that a federal judge block New York Attorney General Letitia James and state prosecutors from investigating his family businesses.

"Among the many categories of relief sought, most of which amount to 'tell that lady to go away and stop investigating me for crimes,' the former president asked for 'a preliminary and permanent injunction … requiring Defendant to immediately cease or, at a minimum, appropriately limit all ongoing investigations of Plaintiffs pending resolution of this action,'" noted Dye. "Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba has now managed to docket a motion for preliminary injunction, and, friends, for sheer batsh*ttery, this one rivals her letter to the Pulitzer Committee demanding that it retract prizes for the New York Times and Washington Post OR ELSE."

Adam Schiff slams 'weak' Kevin McCarthy for caving to extremist lawmakers after committee threats

On Tuesday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) responded to the threats from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to strip Schiff and others of their committee assignments should Republicans take the House majority.

"I think the reality is McCarthy is a very weak leader," said Schiff. "And as a result, he is already being led around by the most extreme elements of his conference — the Marjorie Taylor Greenes and others that are calling for retribution because of their removal."

Trump picks a QAnon-linked supporter as his ‘special guest speaker’ at new rally

Whenever Donald Trump was asked about QAnon during the 2020 presidential race, he avoided either promoting or criticizing their far-right conspiracy theorists. Trump would typically say that he didn’t know much about QAnon but heard that they “love America” and oppose pedophilia. Now, Trump is featuring a major QAnon supporter at a Florence, Arizona MAGA rally scheduled for this Saturday, January 15: Arizona State Sen. Mark Finchem, billed as the event’s “special guest speaker.”

Finchem is running for Arizona secretary of state — a position presently held by Democrat Katie Hobbs, who is running for governor. Republicans who have been competing with Finchem for the GOP nomination in that secretary of state race include Shawnna Bolick, Michelle Ugenti-Rita and Beau Lane; Trump has endorsed Finchem, who hasn’t been shy about promoting QAnon’s ludicrous conspiracy theories.

Mike Pence shredded by CNN legal analyst for getting 'cold feet' over 'vitally important' Jan. 6 cooperation

On Monday's edition of CNN's "OutFront," former impeachment attorney Norm Eisen sharply criticized the reported reluctance of former Vice President Mike Pence to cooperate with the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack.

"He has told aides that the committee has taken a sharp partisan turn by openly considering the potential for criminal referrals to the Justice Department about Mr. Trump and others," said anchor Erin Burnett. "What do you think about this, Norm? This is pretty significant and could put the committee in a position of having to make a decision about a subpoena for the former vice president."

Americans can 'slow-walk ourselves into trouble' by assuming Trump can't hurt the US: Authoritarian expert

Speaking to Mehdi Hasan on MSNBC Sunday, Yale professor and expert on authoritarianism, Timothy Snyder, explained that there are a lot of Republicans who absolutely do not want to see the United States collapse, but their far-right GOP colleagues do.

Snyder rejected the question about whether President Joe Biden giving a speech is enough, saying that Biden can't hold America on his shoulders alone and that public pressure must be put on people like Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) to support voting rights protections and ensure people aren't blocked from casting a ballot.
