Appearing on MSNBC's "The Sunday Show" with host Jonathan Capehart, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) didn't hold back when asked about comments made by Rep. Matt Gaetz about the Capitol riot, and advised the Florida Republican to "shut up" about it and worry about being under investigation by law enforcement officials in his home state and the federal government.

After watching a clip of Gaetz appearing on the one-year anniversary of the Jan 6th insurrection with equally controversial Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, host Capehart let the longtime Democrat lawmaker speak her mind.

Booting right-wing extremists off social media has reduced their visibility but the threat still remains: report

In the wake of the Capitol riot on Jan. 6 of last year, far-right influencers and conspiracy peddlers were booted off social media platforms in droves. Now, those booted from the platforms are finding alternative means of getting their messages out.

Speaking to NPR, the Atlantic Council's Jared Holt said the deplatforming "produced this great scattering where groups that were banned or groups that believed their bans were imminent or forthcoming in this giant game of musical chairs, hopping from platform to platform."

Desperate Republicans are trying to rewrite the history of Jan. 6 as a liberal plot: report

The Trump flags were waving in the cold Washington, D.C. wind on Jan. 6. Red "Make America Great Again" hats dotted the steps of the U.S. Capitol. Once they broke through the windows and doors of the 229-year-old building chants "stop the steal" echoed through the halls. Outside a gallows was erected to chants of "Hang Mike Pence."

One year later, Republicans are trying to claim all of those people were really secret liberals, reported the New York Times. They think these secret liberals spent hundreds of dollars on Trump campaign gear, traveled across the U.S. on Republican-organized buses, stood for hours in the cold listening to then-President Trump speak for over an hour, and then walked over a mile to the U.S. Capitol building before raging a stampede inside.

Here are 6 things about Jan. 6 that have been under-reported: former special counsel

Former Department of Defense special counsel Ryan Goodman crafted a list of important things that happened related to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. government that have been unreported or underreported and deserve greater amplification.

Taking to Twitter, Goodman first predicted that the day is quickly approaching when the Justice Department will take on former President Donald Trump's "co-conspirator (for lack of a better term) Jeffrey Clark as Attorney General."

'Hang Mike Pence' was the logical last step for Trump's pressure campaign: analysis

The entire purpose of sending a mob of Donald Trump supporters was to put one last burst of pressure on vice president Mike Pence to overturn the election results, according to an analysis.

The former president had pressured Pence both publicly and privately to follow through on a coup plot based on a constitutionally specious reading of the Electoral Count Act of 1887, but the then-vice president waffled -- so Trump and his right-wing allies resorted to a last-ditch effort to remain in power through force, argued New York Magazine columnist Ed Kilgore.
