Georgia Congressman Andrew Clyde was rebuffed today by the House Ethics Committee over his refusal to walk through metal detectors installed in the wake of the January 6 Capitol riots.

So Clyde, owner of the Clyde Armory in his hometown of Athens, GA (and one other store), now says he'll go to the courts to challenge the constitutionality of metal detectors. Here's Politico's reporting:

During an MSNBC panel discussion on the RNC fundraising meeting in Florida where Donald Trump ripped into Republican party leaders, the former head of the Republican National Committee took time out to take a few shots at controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Speaking with "The Sunday Show" host Jonathan Capehart, Micheal Steele rolled his eyes over the report that Taylor Greene just brought in a big haul of campaign donations.

"I was talking with a number of fundraisers this week who were talking about that small-donor program that they have in place and it is very effective and it is the extremes that are raising the money," Steele recalled. "You know, the Adam Kinzingers and folks like that, they're doing okay, you know, but they're not raising $3 million in 30 days -- that's the difference."

"And so, to Soledad O'Brien's point, that's where the culture wars come in," he continued. "That's the culture fight being played out and realized in the dollars that are raised. Understand this: this is all very cynical. At the end of the day, they don't give a rat's patootie about these issues. Marjorie Taylor Greene is just a jacked-up congresswoman-wannabe who is as crazy as hell but can raise $3 million. Whereas common sense, focused, disciplined sort of 'I want to try to govern the country' type of Republicanism is trying to eke along a dollar at a time. So that kind of tells you where the dollar fight is and the Trumpists are winning."

Gaetz wasted no time before pushing the "Big Lie" of that the election was stolen that incited the fatal January 6th insurrection by supporters of Donald Trump. Following the insurrection, Gaetz sided with the insurrectionists and voted to overturn the election as they had violently fought to do.

Embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is now receiving pressure to resign from inside his own Republican caucus.

"Matt Gaetz needs to resign," Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) tweeted on Thursday evening.

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is continuing her agenda of actively attacking everything Democrats do, to the point she is becoming like a more experienced Marjorie Taylor Greene or Lauren Boebert.

On Wednesday Blackburn posted a Twitter thread filled with graphics she appeared to see as attacking President Joe Biden's $2 trillion infrastructure bill. As the far-right Tennessee conservative may learn, the legislation is extraordinarily popular with the American people – Democratic and Republican voters alike.

According to an analysis by CNN's by Stephen Collinson and Maeve Reston, the Republican Party is currently floundering in their attempts to derail President Joe Biden's agenda because they are trying to use Donald Trump playbook -- but it is having the same effect it did when he was in office.

After pushing through a massive $1.9 trillion COVID-19 aid package, the Biden administration is dead set on a multi-trillion dollar infrastructure package but the GOP has yet to come up with a line of attack they can pitch to the public because they are sidelining themselves with trivial matters that get them attention on conservative media but not with the public.

On CNN Tuesday, congressional correspondent Manu Raju reported that, with just a few exceptions, most Republicans in Congress are still holding off on coming to the defense of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), currently facing a Justice Department sex trafficking investigation.

"Congress has been in recess for the last couple of weeks," said Raju. "They are also on recess this week. Most House Republicans have said very little, including the House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, who did say these were serious allegations, and he did plan to speak with Congressman Gaetz. Beyond that, there's been very little public response from top Republicans who have stayed quiet."

On Tuesday, Vice News's Cameron Joseph reported that embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) will be appearing at the "Save America Summit" hosted at former President Donald Trump's National Doral club in Florida on Friday.

The event, hosted by the pro-Trump group Women for America First, will have Gaetz speaking alongside several other Republican lawmakers, including Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Beth Van Duyne (R-TX), and Louie Gohmert (R-TX).

On Monday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took to Twitter for an impassioned defense of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who is currently the subject of a federal sex trafficking investigation for possibly transporting an underage girl over state lines.

Greene claimed that the whole scandal is "a deep state attack and media smear fest to take him down" — and suggested it's probably fake because no woman has come forward publicly to speak out against him.
