Former US Attorney explains why indictments are likely in Rudy Giuliani case

Americans discovered this week that a grand jury was impaneled in the ongoing case involving the Trump Organization. The case involved the business operations of former President Donald Trump's company. Because grand juries are secret, the only information known is what witnesses called have revealed.

Speaking to CNN's Jim Acosta, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara, explained that the way it appears currently the grand jury is set to issue criminal indictments. He explained that as witnesses are called they will reveal more about what the prosecutors are exploring.

Former Giuliani ally calls the former mayor a 'caricature' who has 'lost the image of America's mayor'

In an interview with New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, former New York Police Department Commissioner William "Bill" Bratton lamented that his old friend, Rudy Giuliani, has become a joke.

"As somebody who's got a big ego, speaking about another guy with a big ego, I can't understand how he allowed himself to be subsumed by Trump," Bratton told Dowd. "He's made a caricature of himself and he's lost the image of America's mayor because of the antics of the last two or three years."

Extensive report details how a suspected Putin agent used Rudy Giuliani to feed disinformation to the Trump team

Time Magazine on Friday dropped a massive 10,000-word profile of Andriy Derkach, an alleged Kremlin agent who tried to use Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani to launder purportedly damaging information about President Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

Time notes that Derkach, a former member of Ukraine's parliament, didn't perform clandestine activities such as the Russians who hacked into Hillary Clinton's campaign in 2016.

Judge shoots down Rudy Giuliani's desperate attempt to learn why he's being investigated for crimes

A judge on Friday shot down former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani's desperate attempt to learn the contents of a search warrant that was executed on his office and apartment.

Law and Crime reports that U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken slapped away Giuliani's request to access the warrant by noting that Giuliani cited "no precedent" for someone who hasn't yet been charged with a crime being given access to sensitive law enforcement information.

‘Clearly hyperbolic’: Rudy Giuliani denies he urged attack on Capitol in ‘trial by combat’ speech

Rudy Giuliani says he didn’t really mean for anyone to take him seriously when he urged a mob of #MAGA followers to engage in “trial by combat” on Jan. 6 before they stormed the Capitol. Former President Donald Trump’s then personal lawyer Thursday asserted his fiery speech was “clearly hyperbolic” and claims that “no reasonable listener” would take it literally, even though that’s exactly what the violent crowd of thousands did. “No reasonable (person) would perceive Giuliani’s speech as an instruction to march to the Capitol, violently breach the perimeter and enter the Capitol building and ...

Ukraine investigation will determine if Rudy Giuliani is a criminal — or just a 'dupe': ex-prosecutor

On CNN Thursday, former federal prosecutor Elie Honig discussed the implications of the new Eastern District of New York probe into Ukraine, and in particular politician Andrii Derkach, for potentially trying to influence the 2020 election — an effort Trump associate Rudy Giuliani was reportedly close to, although he is not currently a criminal target of the investigation.

"Elie, why would it be that Rudy's not in trouble but the Ukrainian guy is?" asked anchor Chris Cuomo.

Feds investigating Ukrainian meddling in 2020 election to help Trump: NYT

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is caught up in yet another legal drama.

"Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn have been investigating whether several Ukrainian officials helped orchestrate a wide-ranging plan to meddle in the 2020 presidential campaign, including using Rudolph W. Giuliani to spread their misleading claims about President Biden and tilt the election in Donald J. Trump's favor, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The criminal investigation, which began during the final months of the Trump administration and has not been previously reported, underscores the federal government's increasingly aggressive approach toward rooting out foreign interference in American electoral politics. Much of that effort is focused on Russian intelligence, which has suspected ties to at least one of the Ukrainians now under investigation," The New York Times reported Thursday.

Trump and Giuliani ask judge to dismiss lawsuit claiming they sparked Capitol riot -- say they were just exercising free speech

This Thursday, former President Donald Trump and his one-time lawyer Rudy Giuliani asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit accusing them of sparking the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, NBC News reports.

The lawsuit, brought by House Democrats, accuses the pair of violating the federal Ku Klux Klan Act on Jan. 6 by riling up a mob to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 election. As NBC News points out, separate attempts to have the lawsuit dismissed argued that Trump and Giuliani were simply exercising their right to free speech.

Maddow issues warning about election 'auditor' who won't let people see how his machines work — 'but Trump wins'

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow issued a warning about a right-wing friend of Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani who is taking over voting audit attempts in Georgia. The guy has become a kind of cult hero among Trump supporters, including one who wrote a love song about him.

"The reason he has become the folk hero, in the stop the steal community, is Mr. Jovan Pulitzer claims to be the inventor of the kinematic technology," Maddow explained. "Which he could tell you, but he would have to kill you after. Don't worry, he has credentials to back up his claim. This was his invention before that, a handheld bar code scanner in a plastic case that looked like a house cat. He just invented the shape like a cat part of it. Nevertheless, that has been named the 25 worst tech products ever. The number one worst invention of the 2000s. His post experience is that he churns out dozens of books about treasure hunting. Lost treasures that you can find. Even if he does have his own anthem where they call him a warrior, you might think that a guy with the treasure hunter books and cat resume is not a person who has business being around American ballots and they are in high demand from Republicans across the country."

'They have Rudy Giuliani documents too': Michael Cohen sounds the alarm that Trump grand jury is big and broad

Former lawyer to Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, outlined what he thinks will happen to Trump CFO Allen Weisselberg when he endures prosecution from the New York Attorney General or Manhattan District Attorney. He explained to MSNBC's Ari Melber on Wednesday that he understands the process because he's been through it.

"I can tell you what's going on only because it happened to me," he began. Donald Trump will immediately, as will the kids, rally around Alan and his sons and say, 'Listen, we got you. we're going to get the best lawyers. We're going to ensure that you're fully protected. We love you. You are part of the family.' And that's going to last for a very short period of time, especially because Donald doesn't like to pay lawyers. Like what happened with me. All of a sudden with the joint defense agreement, he decided to stop paying, and he left me on my own, at which point I still, you know, was trying to stay loyal to the cause. I was trying to stay on message with Trump."
