"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver focused his main story Sunday on "problems" that Republicans create so that they have something to solve.

Republicans are desperately trying to take over the House, Senate and a slew of offices that allow them to control elections in an effort to usher in restrictive election laws to put in more Republicans and eliminate any policy delivered by a Democrat for the past century.

An interview with Mehmet Oz and Jimmy Kimmel was posted online Sunday showing a bizarre story about the doctor growing up "obsessed with needles."

As a humorous anecdote, Oz tells Kimmel, "This is a 25 gauge needle," he explains. "So, you can't do much damage with this thing. When I was a kid, I'll tell you a quick story. I was so fascinated by needles, I used to find — my dad was a physician. I used to find these needles in his desk. And I noticed those little holes in the top of the orange. Where the pores are. I would put the needle through the pore and get orange juice out. Then I noticed one day that my sister's head had little pores in it too."

Former prosecutor turned law professor, Joyce White Vance said on Sunday that she thinks it's headed in the direction that Donald Trump will be indicted for helping promote an attack on the United States because he lost the election.

Speaking to MSNBC, Vance explained that we can "read the tea leaves" and speculate but that Attorney General Merrick Garland will keep things relatively quiet.

Speaking to Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) on Sunday, CNN's Pamela Brown asked about former Secret Service Agent and former Trump White House aide Tony Ornato, who spoke to the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress and the attempt to overthrow the election in March 2022.

Since then, former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson revealed several things that Ornato told her about what happened on Jan. 6 that it seems Ornato didn't say to the House Select Committee. Ornato's lawyer told CNN that the committee hasn't asked him to come back and testify about the things that Hutchinson said.

Florida's Ron DeSantis (R) spoke to a crowd on Sunday, just a few weeks before the election, using some of the key attacks he's crafted over the past year, like his decision to go after one of the state's largest employers, Disney. But at one point, the crowd seemed to be excited about one of the GOP government hands outs.

"And so, if you have your family doing, especially with this crushing Biden-flation, if you're raising kids, we're going to give pertinent tax exclusion — no sales tax on diapers, wipes, cribs, strollers, the whole nine yards, raising kids is going to be tax-free in the state of Florida," said DeSantis to small cheers.

Former Republican Party chairman Michael Steele made it clear to MSNBC when asked if he would have recruited Herschel Walker to be a Republican Senate candidate. "Hell no!" he said.

Walker has struggled in a race that is generally considered Republican-leaning, in part because he purports to support Republican values but has been caught in a number of lies.

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough was left speechless by Republican lawmakers blaming House speaker Nancy Pelosi for the Jan. 6 riot when they personally witnessed her decisive actions to stop the violence.

The House Select Committee showed video of Pelosi and Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer attempting to call in the National Guard and police reinforcements as Donald Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, and GOP lawmakers like Steve Scalise and John Thune saw this but later spread conspiracy theories blaming them for security failures.

The House Select Committee showed video recorded by the House Speaker's daughter showing Pelosi taking command as Donald Trump's supporters violently stormed the U.S. Capitol while calling for her execution.

Washington Post reporter Carol Leonnig, who won a Pulitzer Prize for her coverage of the Secret Service, spoke out about the revelations revealed by the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Thursday.

The committee showed text messages, emails and reports from the Secret Service Protective Intelligence Unit that indicated the agency knew well in advance that the Capitol would be attacked and that former Vice President Mike Pence would be a target. One Secret Service agent even went so far as to text message “Probably not going to be good for Pence.”

The Secret Service revealed in information sent to the House Select Committee that they knew that the U.S. Capitol was going to be a target on Jan. 6, 2021.

"This email, for example, was an alert that the Secret Service received on December 24, with the heading, armed and ready, Mr. President," read Rep. Adam Schiff, citing the intelligence. "Multiple users online were targeting members of Congress, instructing others to march into the chambers on January 6, and make sure they know who to fear. In this report, received on Dec. 26 the Secret Service Field Office-related tip that had been received by the FBI."

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said Thursday during a hearing held by the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack that former President Donald Trump knew full-well that he lost the 2020 election. Meanwhile, he was acting on that loss, and trying to quickly withdraw troops from around the globe even though the Department of Defense urged him not to.

Kinzinger showed videos of several defense officials who testified that it was young staffer Johnny McEntee, who did nothing more than run the staffing office of the White House, and who penned the directive ordering all troops out of Afghanistan and Somalia.

The co-hosts of "The View" called out the double standard facing Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania and Herschel Walker, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia.

Fetterman had a stroke this spring and is still having lingering issues where he's not hearing things properly. He has requested a closed captions option so he can read what people are saying to ensure he hears it correctly. His opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz has spent the past months making fun of Fetterman for his health issues.
