Lauren Boebert is 'uninterested in comprehending' public policy: George Takei

'You voted against it' trends as GOP tries to take credit for 'bipartisan relief bill' passed by Dems only

Some Republican members of the House and Senate are trying to take credit for elements of the American Rescue Act after refusing to support the bill, prompting social media users to remind them: "YOU VOTED AGAINST IT!"

That phrase trended on Twitter Sunday after at least four Republican congresspeople tried to convince their constituents they played a role in the broadly-backed $1.9 trillion stimulus package. President Joe Biden signed the bill into law on Thursday. No Republican in either the House or Senate supported the bill.

On Friday, Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) took to Twitter to "announce that the Biden Administration has just implemented my bipartisan COVID relief bill." Despite insisting she was "proud" that her "bipartisan legislation has officially become SBA policy," Salazar failed to mention that she, herself, voted against the bill.

Fact-checker blows the lid off Lauren Boebert's tale about a man's death being the reason she carries a gun

Rep. Lauren Boebert's (R-Colo.) compelling story to explain her gun rights advocation has been dismantled by fact-checkers who are now offering clarity on her claims.

The Washington Post has given Boebert three Pinocchios after uncovering hard facts about her claims. On multiple occasions, Boebert, who became a popular name among conservatives due to the gun-friendly policies in place at her restaurant in Shooters Grill of Rifle, Colo., has insisted that a fatal altercation outside of her restaurant led to her decision to carry a firearm and allow her staff to also do so.

Dem congresswoman demands investigation into 3 House Republicans for 'involvement in the deadly attack on the Capitol'

Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is demanding an investigation into three House Republicans to examine what she described as their "active roles" in provoking and aiding the deadly January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol.

In six separate letters sent Wednesday to the House Ethics Committee and Office of Congressional Ethics, Jayapal (D-Wash.) called for probes into Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) to determine the extent of "their involvement in the deadly attack on the Capitol."

Marjorie Taylor Greene delays passage of $1.9 trillion COVID relief after blocking child abuse legislation

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Wednesday morning attempted to block, or at least delay, passage of the COVID relief bill, also known as President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Act.

A motion to adjourn requires the entire House to stop what they're doing and come to the floor to vote. It can delay proceedings by an hour, sometimes longer.

GOPer Boebert facing furious backlash for new ad targeting Nancy Pelosi

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is facing renewed criticism for an ad she made targeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just weeks after Capitol insurrectionists attempted to nab the Democratic leader when they stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6th.

Boebert's recent ad (which can be seen below) was posted to Twitter -- where she calls on Pelosi to "tear down" the Capitol fencing keeping lawmakers safe from another attack -- and then concludes with the sound of a gunshot followed by the sound of the gun being cocked and fired again.

That has critics of Boebert -- who has made guns the central theme of her campaign -- asking if she is subtly sending a message to her followers.

Boebert's attack on Pelosi reminded many critics of her tweets during the insurrection when she was accused of helping pro-Trump extremists track down Pelosi as she was hustled to safety.

You can see some responses to her gunshot ad below.

GOP lawmakers are bailing because 'they don't want to work in Donald Trump's Republican Party': Morning Joe

Reacting to the decision by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) to not run for re-election in 2022 -- becoming the fifth Republican senator to call it quits before the next election -- MSNBC host Joe Scarborough claimed Donald Trump is the reason for all the departures.

During an extended rant on Tuesday, the "Morning Joe" co-host said the Republican Party is still under the control of the ex-president despite the fact that he has led them to ruin.

Adding into the discussion that Trump on Monday night told his followers to deny contributions to the Republican Party and "Send your donation to Save America PAC at DonaldJTrump.com," Scarborough explained what is happening to the GOP.

"They have defined conservatism by whether you support the biggest spending Republican in the history of the party," the MSNBC co-host began. "We saw [Sen.] Ben Sasse (R-NE) -- he talked about this personality cult, he said it is not conservative. Yet Donald Trump is taking us one step further to that personality cult."

'When I hear [Sen.] Lindsey Graham (R-SC) talking about he's capable of 'magic,' what magic, Lindsey? The magic that caused Republicans to lose House elections in 2018 by a historic margin? Is it magic? Is it magic for Donald Trump to get in the way and actually cede the two seats in Georgia and the control of the United States Senate to Democrats? Is that magic?"

Speaking with author Anne Applebaum, he added, " Anne, all of your works have described how strongmen get in power and how they start peeling off the more talented, the more gifted, the more independent players all around them. We're now starting to see the establishment of the Republican Party peeling away one by one by one. They just don't want to work in Donald Trump's Republican Party anymore. -- and it is now Donald Trump's Republican Party."

Lauren Boebert’s right-wing antics are having a surprising impact back home

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has gained notoriety for her public displays of firearms -- whether in campaign ads, in the halls of Congress or in the background of her online presence in committee hearings -- and her constituents back home seem to love it.

The Colorado Republican displayed a shotgun and Glock handgun on a shelf behind her during a hearing on gun safety measures, and the stunt drew praise from her supporters -- who were as eager to talk firearm minutiae as policy, reported The Daily Sentinel.

'Complete bonkers': Lauren Boebert says it is Democrats who are obsessed with conspiracy theories

Republicans scrambling to rein in extremist lawmakers as Democrats paint them as the QAnon party: report

Any hopes that the Republican Party will reclaim either the U.S. Senate or House in the 2022 midterm election may hinge on whether the leadership of the party can get attention-seeking extremist lawmakers to cool their rhetoric as Democrats gear up to label the GOP as the home of conspiracy kooks.

According to a report from Politico, the GOP leadership is confronted with a collection of lawmakers -- including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and longtimer Louis Gohmert (R-TX) -- who have openly embraced not only QAnon conspiracies but also Donald Trump's "Big Lie" that the election was stolen from him.

Trump’s 'verified' Gab account used email address belonging to far-right platform’s CEO: hacked data

Gab, a far-right social media platform that has had up to 4 million users, recently suffered a major hacking — and the platform was so compromised that countless passwords were stolen. Journalist Micah Lee discusses the hacking this week on The Intercept, reporting that former President Donald Trump's Gab account used an e-mail address belonging to Gab CEO Andrew Torba.

Lee explains, "The hacker made off with the e-mail addresses and encrypted passwords of all 4 million of the site's users and the content of more than 39 million posts, including everything posted to 7632 private groups, and leaked them to the radical transparency group Distributed Denial of Secrets. On Monday, DDoSecrets released the nearly 70 gigabytes of hacked data to journalists and researchers."
