Mike Pence gets a tiny bit closer to attacking Donald Trump — while bashing Kevin McCarthy on Russia

Mike Pence spoke to the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday in a speech that is about as close as he's ever gotten to trashing Donald Trump on anything.

Pence, who was the target of death threats in a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, told the room that the conservatives cannot lie about public policies antithetical to the movement simply because they sound good.

'Shame, shame, shame on you': The View calls out Ron DeSantis’ latest voter arrests

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has dispatched his "election police" to arrest Florida voters who were told they were allowed to vote by election staff but they weren't supposed to.

A few years ago, Florida citizens overwhelmingly voted in support of a ballot measure that restored voting rights to felons who had served their time. So, those felons went to the polls and relied on government employees to tell them what to do. Now they're being arrested.

Nikki Haley's pledge to oppose election deniers didn't last long

In an interview with the "Today Show" Nikki Haley, Donald Trump's former ambassador to the United Nations, asserted her principles and said she would never help or support any Republican candidates who denied the 2020 election results. Election deniers have taken over the Republican Party after primary elections where supporters of the former president's dominated the polls with election denial as the litmus test.

Haley, like many of the few Republicans, left willing to speak out against the attempt to overthrow the government, but she quickly failed to keep the promise, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

Michael Cohen: Trump won't run for office in 2024 because he's making too much money by not running

The grift is too good, Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen told New York 1 in an interview while talking about his new book Revenge, which discusses Trump's use of government resources to target his enemies.

Speaking to the network, Cohen explained that the former president may talk a big game but he isn't actually going to run for president in 2024.

Jury finds Paul Flores guilty of murdering Kristin Smart

The family of Kristin Smart, the former California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo student who was murdered in 1996, finally got justice on Tuesday when her alleged murderer was found guilty in a Salinas courtroom.

According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, Paul Flores was found guilty on first-degree murder charges for the killing, which happened 26 years ago. The 45-year-old San Pedro man was convicted of premeditated murder and his father, Ruben Flores, is accused of helping to dispose of Smart's body, which was never found.

Georgetown historian rails against the media for treating Republicans like they’re 'normal candidates'

A visiting professor at Georgetown who teaches 20th-century history of democracy is calling out the media for treating many of the Republican candidates as if they're nothing more than business as usual. In fact, he argues, they aren't.

"It’s a massive problem that much of the established media will keep pretending these Republican candidates are serious people because they feel the need to uphold the myth that there are two roughly equivalent sides/parties engaged in a 'normal' political contest," wrote Thomas Zimmer, who also writes for The Guardian.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke to MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell on Tuesday about some of the findings from the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Some of the scenes that day were revealed in footage taken by her daughter. In one moment, Pelosi is seen on the phone with then Vice President Mike Pence asking if he was safe. She explained that she and other leaders were taken away from the Capitol to an undisclosed location. Pence was still in the secure parking structure.

Police are investigating a video that has gone viral of a White man grabbing a Black man by the neck and attacking him over allegations of a stolen bicycle.

NPR reported the Milwaukee fight of the 62-year-old White guy claiming that he saw a friend of the 24-year-old Black man take the bike. The Black man keeps saying over and over that he never touched another person's bike.

Morning Joe trashes Michael Flynn's Christian Nationalism for having nothing to do with Christianity

"Morning Joe" welcomed Associated Press reporter Michelle Smith, who helped create a new documentary in partnership with PBS's Frontline on disgraced former general Michael Flynn, who is waging a kind of holy war by combining anti-vaccine people with evangelicals and conspiracy theorists.

"You know, Michelle, we've had quite a few guests on over the past several weeks talking about how, well, one of the biggest problems of to Christian Nationalism is -- actually has little to do with Christianity," said co-host Joe Scarborough. "And we're seeing this across the West. We saw it in Italy and have seen it in other countries, too, where the very people who associate themselves as Christian Nationalists are people who go to church less, and their Christianity is more about a cultural identifier than a biblical identifier."
