The House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress and what led up to the insurrection held the second day of public hearings linking the lie that the 2020 election was stolen to the attack.

Former federal prosecutor Joyce White Vance spoke to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace and explained the specific piece of the hearing that links former President Donald Trump to the criminal liability in this case.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA) spoke with Raw Story about what happened during the first half of the House Select Committee that aired on Monday morning.

Torres noted how sad she was that the country has been faced with something like this, but pointed to people who purport to be experts who hitched their wagon to Donald Trump and the so-called "big lie."

The House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress held its second public hearing and repeatedly detailed that people close to President Donald Trump told him that there was no widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Still, Trump maintained that there was something afoot and proceeded to assemble a team of people who would agree with him.

After the first panel of witnesses, the committee took a break in which CNN special correspondent Jamie Gangel explained, "there's something else going on here though. This was a huge win for the committee and Donald Trump's head is exploding right now because all of those people are inner circle. From his children to his lawyers to his campaign director. Bill Barr was the star witness."

As part of a documentary on far-right personality Alex Jones, CNN's Drew Griffin interviewed a former football coach and a school friend who recalled a young Jones' more bizarre characteristics.

After a group of former colleagues of Jones claimed that the host was nothing more than a fraud, his childhood friend recalled Jones being obsessed with Satan, and at times, he claimed, seemed like he was possessed.

CNN investigative reporter Drew Griffin produced a special that delves into what helped build right-wing personality Alex Jones. But at the start of the documentary, those close to Jones, who worked with him on InfoWars and with joint projects, claimed that everything Jones does is fake.

Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has been linked to many of the conversations between Donald Trump's campaign and the White House. Also of concern are his relationships with the far-right activists who coordinated the attack on Congress on Jan. 6.

Jared Kushner testified that he dismissed White House counsel Pat Cipollone's concerns over Donald Trump's efforts to overturn his election loss, and a former prosecutor explained why that was a bad move.

George Conway said the first public hearing by the House Select Committee shows there's already enough evidence to prosecute former President Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection.
