Former President Donald Trump's advisers pumped him up during his CNN town hall by showing him supportive social media posts at commercial breaks.

The ex-president acted more aggressive toward moderator Kaitlan Collins after the first commercial break, when his longtime adviser Jason Miller showed him freshly posted tweets from prominent Democrats criticizing the network's decision to host the event and declaring Trump the winner, reported Axios.

The House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on Congress and the attempt to overturn the 2020 election found several text messages on phones that were seized or subpoenaed as part of the ongoing investigations. It was former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows that turned over some of his communications to the committee, revealing a number of text messages he'd backed up to his computer.

One of those text messages the committee thought came from Trump Energy Secretary Rick Perry.

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) explained that one of the biggest barriers to taking down Donald Trump in a 2024 Republican primary is that whoever does, risks alienating the MAGA supporters. So, they'll be sacrificing their own political careers at the same time.

Gov. Ron "DeSantis (R-FL) is really hammering, I guess, not totally in his face, but I guess in a veiled sort of way Trump on electability rather than questions of policy," said CNN host Jim Acosta. Fox commentator Tomi Lahren complained on Sunday that there isn't a major white supremacy crisis facing the United States. Even if there is, she explained, there's no way to solve it.

As part of the Sunday show, Lahren ranted that the Democrats have crafted the idea of an "ultra-MAGA white supremacist, threats to democracy." She said it while two fingers on each hand bounced in the air to indicate quotes.

This week, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) fumbled comments about white supremacy in the military. According to Tuberville, white nationalists are nothing more than Americans and blamed Democrats for saying there were "too many white extremists, white nationalists, people that don't believe in our agenda, as Joe Biden's agenda." Since then, he's tried to "clarify" the comments.

At first, he engaged an NBC News reporter where he asked how one defines a white nationalist. He then claimed he was just being sarcastic. Finally, he moved on to another topic, complaining about people calling supporters of Donald Trump white nationalists.

Speaking to MSNBC on Sunday, the political panel lamented that Republicans have grown increasingly accepting of radical right-wing extremism and extremists themselves.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) insisted she hadn't seen any Donald Trump supporters who could be considered extremists.

During a hearing Thursday of the House Homeland Security Committee, the Georgia Republican questioned sociology professor Cynthia Miller-Idriss, who assured lawmakers that she monitored extremist groups looking for threats of violence and not to censor their views, reported Newsweek.

Documentarian Blake Zeff is revealing some of the tapes of his attempt to film a piece about embattled New York Republican Rep George Santos. On Wednesday, he spoke to MSNBC host Ari Melber sharing a clip of Santos attempting to make a joke about a "room full of Jews."

“If you sit in a room with a lot of Jews, you’re f---ed. It’s funny when the -isms start coming out, right? ‘Oh, he’s such a mensch, he’s such a mensch.’ Then they go onto the next thing,” Santos said in the clip.

Donald Trump's event with CNN on Wednesday brought out a lot of critics from the left. Still, according to CNN's Capitol Hill correspondent Manu Raju, some Republican lawmakers are taking issue with some of the comments too.

Asked about the former president's appearance, specifically about Trump's reluctance to say if he thought Russian President Vladimir Putin was a war criminal, Sen. Todd Young (R-IN) said, "I think President Trump's judgment is wrong in this case. President Putin and his government have engaged in war crimes. I don't believe that's disputed."

"The View" bucked the trend Thursday with a discussion about CNN's town hall with Donald Trump, with one of the hosts saying the widely criticized decision to give the former president a platform was actually good news for America.

CNN's airing of the show has caused "outrage and fear" in the U.S. and among the country's international allies, CNN's Jim Scuitto reported Thursday.

Donald Trump was noticeably noncommittal about his position on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and national security expert Tom Nichols said he would give Vladimir Putin everything he wanted if re-elected as president.

The ex-president -- who was impeached in 2019 for an extortion scheme involving Ukraine -- told a town hall audience assembled by CNN that he wanted the killing to stop but refused to say who should prevail in the war, and Nichols told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that was an ominous sign.
