The View calls out 'robotic' DeSantis: He has the 'charisma of a cup' and that’s why he’ll lose against Trump in 2024

For someone who always has something to say, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was quiet when confronted with the question of whether or not he'd agree to serve out his full term if elected again as Florida's governor.

The co-hosts of "The View" noticed that he seemed different in the debate than when he speaks out at rallies or attacked reporters.

Trump CFO Allen Weisselberg must be very, very careful with what he says on the stand — here’s why

A former FBI counsel and prosecutor on Robert Mueller's team, Andrew Weissmann, warned Tuesday that Donald Trump's CFO could face some difficulty despite being given a sweet deal by the Manhattan district attorney.

Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg is set to plead guilty and get just five months in Rikers Island prison after admitting he failed to pay taxes on $1.7 million in income. But Weissmann explained that Weisselberg must be careful when testifying because the stakes are extremely high.

Trump Organization fraud case is a 'show trial' with no real criminal penalties: former US attorney

Former US Attorney Glenn Kirschner is calling out the "show trial" of the Trump Organization and the perks they doled out to employees.

"I don't think anyone watching the show has any confidence that Trump is ever going to pay a price for not paying taxes for 15 years," Kirschner told MSNBC's Joy Reid on Monday. "A $1.5 million fine, that's the max they can do. They can't dissolve the company? You can not pay taxes for 15 years, commit blatant tax fraud, and that's it? You can steal documents and get away with it, take home your White House classified documents. It's almost as if Trump is above the law and I think the courts are making that clear."

Chuck Grassley knows for the first time in his 62-year political career 'he's in big trouble': MSNBC host

Mike Franken is in a statistical tie with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), according to polls by the Des Moines Register. Grassley is one of few incumbents left in office that has been there since many of their voters have been alive. In the case of Grassley, it's 42 years. He was elected in 1980 and before that, in 1974, he was elected to Congress. In 1959 he was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives. It means that Grassley has been in public office for 62 years.

MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell explained that while there are a lot of U.S. Senate races where Democrats are desperately trying to hold onto their seats, it turns out Republicans like Chuck Grassley are in the same boat. While candidates like Herschel Walker and Mehmet Oz might be fun to laugh at, there are races that are flying under the radar like the one in Iowa, which should have been a cakewalk for someone who has been in office for six decades.

Meet the Republicans who are praying for your computer to die until after the election

Eric Trump, Michael Flynn and Roger Stone all took part in a political-religious event that left many shocked. While many have talked about this brand of Christofascism that has nothing to do with Christianity, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow pointed out key points of the absurd prayers of Flynn's Christian Nationalism group.

"We are to pray and crush the satellites," said a pastor at the event. "We need to send a Holy Ghost virus into their computer to destroy them so they will not function until our election is over."

Rachel Maddow thinks Republicans are 'desperate'

Rachel Maddow sounded the alarm on Republican lies around the 2022 campaign and how much worse it is than the suppression tactics used in 2020.

She began by playing a clip of a 2020 robocall from a woman pretending to be from a "civil rights group" and trying to scare voters from voting. The same thing is happening in Arizona today, but Maddow explained it isn't coming from robocalls, it's coming from people sitting at the dropbox location with weapons trying to scare people away from dropping off their ballots.

Paul Krugman smacks down red state Republicans on crime stats

Republicans have tried to scare voters about "crime" ahead of elections for generations, Mother Jones wrote earlier this month. This year, the GOP has cited out-of-control crime as a reason that Democrats can't be trusted to keep Americans safe, Paul Krugman wrote in his Monday column — two weeks ahead of the election.

The reality about crime was also pointed out by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Joy Hofmeister during the Oklahoma debate. after Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt cited crime as a major issue in the state

Palin was never favored to win in the Alaska race, but now she's blaming "funky rules" and Dominion Voting Systems. The so-called "funky rules" she cited are about Alaska's new system of ranked-choice voting, which voters passed a 2020 election vote for Ballot Measure 2.

There's a pattern of corruption around Clarence Thomas and he should be off election cases: former FBI deputy director

Peter Strzok, the former Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI's Counterintelligence Division, said that there is no way that Justice Clarence Thomas should have any role in deciding anything involving the 2020 election.

Speaking to Strzok and John Heilemann, MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace explained that Thomas is the one who saved Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) from a subpoena about his role in attempting to get the vote count changed in Georgia. Graham was subpoenaed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, but the senator is desperately fighting not to give testimony under oath. He hasn't clarified why other than he doesn't think he should have to because he was only making the calls as part of his own research on voting to certify the election on Jan. 6.

Trump biographer says ex-president is ready to accuse his long-time accountant Allen Weisselberg of lying

The Trump Organization fraud trial began in New York on Monday with jury selection and once that is in place, they'll begin with the case against the former president's company allegedly giving out sweet perks that were never taxed.

"I think they're going to be worried about Allen Weissberg because Allen was Fred Trump's accountant before he was Donald Trump's CFO, and he knows where all the financial bodies are buried, and I think they're worried about his testimony to the point that they've already signaled they're going to accuse him of lying," said Trump biographer Tim O'Brien, who has been sued by Trump.

Former US Attorney says she firmly believes the DOJ will bring a Jan. 6 case against Trump

Former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade, who now teaches at the University of Michigan Law School, said that Attorney General Merrick Garland won't have a choice but to prosecute Donald Trump.

Over the weekend Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said that Trump must testify because there are far too many questions that have been unanswered. At the same time, Trump maintains his innocence and argues that he hasn't had an opportunity to defend himself publicly. Cheney said that if he truly believes that then he should come to the committee to testify.
